So I just got a new head because my was crap when I got the car.Blew the headgasket.I bought a new cometic headgasket with ARP headstuds.I put everything back together set the timing all right and everything im pretty sure.I go to start the car and it turns over but wont start.I hooked up a compression tester and no compression at all.I tourqed the studs to spec and everthing.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? Should I try tightening the studs a little more?

Its a 91 Ka24de

Are you saying that you read 0psi on all four cylenders? The only way to get 0 all the way accross is with the head removed or you made a mistake in doing the test.

Try it again. Then post the numbers.

if you have NO compression my best guess is that your timing is wrong. (i.e. valves are open during compression)

So i took off the valve cover today and I found out my exhaust cam was completely snapped at the end and my timing chain broke. Maybe that was the problem? But im getting a new chain and cam hopefully tomorrow.Second cam i have broke with this install.

I think that is a safe assumption

The bigger question now is why did the cam and chain break?

You may have either pinched the timing chain like a lot of people are saying. Are you flooring the gas pedal while attempting the compression test? That may not cause a 0 reading, but it may effect your results. If you pinched the chain, the aluminum head will break before the chain. Check to make sure the chain is free.

Reading pwns me. You may have crushed your timing chain betwixt the head and block. I've seen it happen. While you were tightening the head studs, did you hear a crack or thud?

I know exactly what it was.I got that cam for free and I told the guy that I got it from that it snapped and he said there was already a crack in it that he should have pointed out to me in the first place.I wish I knew this before haha. But I have a new timing chain, still working on finding a good cam.

Some people have no consideration for others. This guy has proven how trustworthy he is. Hopefully you can find a cam from a better source.

If you have access to a valve spring compressor it's easy and it will take about 1 minute per valve once you get the hang of it.Most likely that should be a common tool you could rent from an auto parts store.
