Im putting my RB back together for my swap this weekend, but dont have an alignment tool. Im beyond broke right now, and cant even afford a plastic one or the universal kit.

Can everything be put back together by eye balling it?

no, you cannot eyeball your clutch alignment.

most autoparts places can rent them...or find some one who has recently done a nissan clutch job as they're all the same.

All the alignment tools ive ever gotten are cheap plastic things. Ive aligned my KA clutches by eye, making sure theres the same gap between the sides and it lines up with the pilot bushing.

I think they are like $3 at advance auto. Just get one for any KA since the transmission splines are the same.

Yes you can eyeball it... I've done it a lot, especially for certian motors where the plastic clutch alignment tool doesn't really work well. You'll know your off if the transmission doesn't fit in nicely.

The only thing that plastic tool is good for is holding the disk in place while you put on the pressure plate. All the "Alignment" tools Ive used still have too much wiggle room to be accurate and I almost always adjust them by eye.
