Hmm...I don't have a check engine light anywhere on this cluster. I've searched nico and found nothing on it. I see check engine led's on other hud clusters but not on this one (89 cluster), came with the car stock. Sorry if this is a retarded question I'm kinda new to the 240 game.

I'm not that noobish :) . It's not a jdm cluster, it's usdm one with digital speed and all. I have no check eng led on the cluster. I have everthing else like cruise, doors, oil, gas, seatbelt, highbeams and all but no check eng light. I'm clueless on what this is about, and I bought the car off the original owner and I don't think she messed with it somehow. Weird then huh?

90 dohc? you did a swap? anyway, my 90 sohc doesn't have one either. at the bottom of the analog cluster, on the left hand bank of lights, (cruise, antilock, wiper fluid etc...), on the very right hand side there is a light with no description by it. is this it? id really like to know

So how am I suppose to know if something is wrong? Especially once I start building it, because it's stock now. Maybe something for a online mechanic...hmm.

I am unsure, but you could keep checking you ecu for the lights

It is still kinda retarded are you just supposed to guess when something is a little off, what about when the weather is warm are you supposed to check your ecufor a code or guess it isd the temp. If you get what I am saying

No just run a toggle light to somewhere in your car using the check engine wires, it's what I did on my crx and will do with this so I don't have to keep getting the ecu out. It's BS, but I gotta do it.

It's the wires going to the ecu. I'm not sure without looking at diagrams but there is one wire (i think) that goes to the ecu that sends the light signal to the ecu (the blinking light). This is your check engine wire, splice into this wire and run it to the toggle light. Then find a 12 volt source and run a wire from that source to the light. This should work but I haven't looked at any diagrams yet so. I use ALL-DATA, at my shop for everyday cars (mechanic), but if you ask around I'm sure you can find ecu diagrams no problem.

that would work except you have to turn the screw to get to the 5 different settings

I'd just set it up for just self diagnostic test (III) which is the main one, or you could have a toggle light for each of the 5.
