I've just been told myG37 JourneyRed/StoneTech PkgNav PkgPrem PkgSport PkgSpoilerSplash Guards

won't have a CD changer. What?Does anyone know if by ordering the 9.3g Hardrive, if that eliminates the changer?I realize a lot of people think the Hard drive is all you need, but I feel differently. The 2007 G35 Sedan has both.

Any feedback? They're also telling me they don't know if it can be added... ON 08/09/07 THE DEALER CHECKED THE ONE G37 ON THE LOT (IDENTICAL TO MINE). IT DOES NOT HAVE AN IN-DASH CD CHANGER...ONLY A SINGLE CD. THEY STATED IT ISN'T POSSIBLE DUE TO THE HARDWARE NOW NEEDED FOR THE NAV AND TECH PKGS.I'M NOT HAPPY.CAN A DISC CHANGER BE ADDED WITHOUT AN RF MODULATOR? DOES ANYONE KNOW?AND IF SO...IS THERE ONE YOU'D RECOMMEND? MY SONY "Xplod" ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM WITHOUT THE MODULATOR.I NEED HELP FROM THE PRO'S HERE!I'D APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK OR SUGGESTIONS FOR ADDING A CHANGER.THANKS

The CD changer comes along with the premium package I believe... or at least it should be. I wouldn't see any need for a cd changer if you can just rip the songs into the hard drive. If the sedan has both a cd changer + HDD, then the G37 most certainly does also.

The premium package includes the 6-disc CD autochanger with MP3 playback, per Infiniti's web site.

Ya, but then the Navigation package says:

"Single feed CD player"

No mention that it replaces the premium package's changer.

How interesting--thanks for the 'heads up.' So, does "single feed CD player" mean the same thing as no CD changer?

Where did you find that nugget of info? I'd be interested to read up on that.

Hey, FYI, I have the same car on order as you--minus the splash guards and plus 4WAS. When you get yours/I get mine, let's put some pics online so that the other knows what they'll be getting.

The infiniti g37 official site mentions the "single feed cd player" in the 'packages' section of the site under the navigation package.

It does NOT say it replaces the cd changer though... so no idea what the deal is on this yet.

To clarify on that issue... the Infiniti G37 WILL have a CD changer as the 2007 G35 sedan does also. The single feed means that the CD changer is done by a single CD feed (as in you put all of the 6 CDs into the changer through one feed). It's not like some other CD changers where you have to manually put them into each slot. The single feed will put them into the slots for you. The system is the same for all vehicles from Lexus.

I hope this is true. I like the HDD, but I enjoy my 6 disc now.

I got to test drive one with the nav at my dealer this week. The salesman is new (as is the dealership) and he mentioned a 6 disc changer in the trunk. Which struck me as very odd... I looked in the trunk and didn't see one... so I'm not putting alot of stock in his statements.

I guess I'll get a firm answer at the debut event next Thursday.

NO the sales guy is WRONG. There is NO 6-disc CD changer in the trunk. I've seen reviews that explicity cover that topic.

The CD changer is built in. So that means that you can change CDs directly from the feed. If you step into any new Lexus, they all have that feature and so do the Infiniti G35 coupes. I know for the G35 sedan, the CD changer is located in the glovebox (at least I hope I got that right) but that doesn't mean that you can manually change CDs from there. The G35 sedan also has that same CD changing concept directly from the single feed.

As I said, I didn't put much stock in it. TBH, the guy is lucky to get my business. He's a nice guy, but he's not very knowledgeable.

If the 2007 G35 Sedan has it, the G37 will. Makes sense.

Yeah, I doubt the harddrive included with the Navigation package would replace the cd changer that is built-in...

The only odd thing was that the Navigation package even mentions the CD player again... why would it? Base model also has a CD player, single feed, so why mention it?

On a related topic... Just curious, but was the 2007 G35 Sedan's navigation a touch screen? or were any of the previous GPS units touch screen.

Because the G37's is. I thought I tried it on a 2007 loaner they gave me and it was not.

Maybe I was just blown away by the improvements over my G I forgot. :-)

Yes the 2007 G35 sedan's navigation is touch screen. It's the exact same navigation on the G37. The Infiniti "Birdview" navigation is touch, button-controlled, and voice-controlled. It's one of the best navigations around I must say along with Lexus's navigation and Mercedes's new navigation in the 2008 C-class.

Yeah I found that out later. Please don't make posts where everything is just in capitalization. But anyways, how come you're mad that it doesn't have a CD changer? Why not just use the hard drive so you don't need the CDs in the first place after you rip them to it?

P.S. I'm not knowledgeable in the field of modifying cars but I'll learn eventually! heh.

I'm bummed because I have a feeling that 9.3 Gb will get full.

I'm already planning to get an iPod once the new version comes out since I'm sure I'll fill that hard drive up. It's nice the ipod connector. I think I saw one video on you tube where they could control the paylists and everything through the nav system. pretty slick.

**EditI wonder how difficult it will be to replace and upgrade the harddriv. I'm sure they're just using notebook computer HDDs. So could i go get a 60Gb one, mirror over the data, then install the larger one??

oo... i may have found my first 'mod' that I would actually know how to do... I'm a geek, not much of a gear head.

When it actually does get full, just erase songs that you don't even listen to. Certainly you wouldn't want to listen to 9.3GBs worth of songs lol. I have a hard time filling up my 4GB Samsung with songs that I want to listen to. With the iPod integration... the max songs that you can actually have as of right now is like 89.3GBs (with the 80GB iPod video). That's umm... a lot of capacity. lol This is certainly better than just having a 6CD changer.

I'm not knocking it. I just know how fickle I am when it comes to music. I have everything from Alice in Chains to The Shins to NWA. So depending on the day, I mix it up alot. I will run out on the internal hard drive (mostly out of laziness), but the ipod integration will more than satisfy.

Oh on a side note. This is exactly the same as the 07 sedan. So I guess we shouldn't be too suprised. I will probably never use the 6 disc in trunk unit. I wonder if I can sell it for $20 on ebay. :-)

What I'm going to do is take out the spare tire in the trunk so I can increase the space so much more. How often do people get flat tires? There's also that road side assistance there to help out with any of those kind of issues. The G37 doesn't have a 6CD changer if you get the hard drive officially.
