As a side note...... If your looking for cheap hp....I have a canister k&n air filter for $30 + shipping. It will give you 5+ hp (very noticable) if you also remove the Y pipe. You can advance your timing for free also....a tune up doesn't hurt (ngk plugs)

Theres really no such thing as cheap horsepower unless you have a welder a car lift, lots of spare pipe and a mandrel bender. I find it hard to believe a cone filter alone would give 5 HP, but you probably need to replace your filter anyhow so might as well. Ive got a pop charger on my 240 too. Just get another job and start saving.

Everyone knows a canister air filter and removing the Ypipe gives over 5 hp

And if you want some serious HP I have a bunch of stupid stickers that look great on your windshield and all over your car. You get 1 HP for ever small sticker and 5 HP for the larger ones. I would go with 2 big ones, one on front and one on back. Thats 10 HP, then put as many small stickers all over your car. You should get at least 25 of them on for a total of 35 HP gain.

On a serious note, I do not believe there is a magical cheap HP Gain. Do the Mods when you can afford them and do it right. For every corner you cut you will regret latter.

It will always cost money to add things to your car...however, you can start taking things out. If you can reduce the weight of the car, its the same as adding horsepower (I know this is a huge generalization...the concept is true.) If you really wanna go fast and have no money, start yanking out the seats, front and back, strip the interior, toss the spare and the jack, forget about any custom sound system that you might have. You may also be able to remove the headliner.

Now personally, I'd wait and save some money. If you have no job, then modding your car should be the least of your concern.
