Ok I just took my car for a test drive for the first time with my recently implanted sr. I just drove it around the block and shifted around 3k- 3500rpm and my boost gauge reports no boost. It just jumps up to 0 and then doesn't go over. I was under the impression I should be seeing boost at around 3k. Is my turbo dead?

If it matters my list of engine mods are:

redtop sr20detGreddy fmic3"dp3" resonated test pipeApex gt spec exhaustcustom intake/ greddy filterhks ssqvgreddy boost gauge

yep, you should be seeing boost by 3k, definetely by 3.5k. Where do you have your boost gauge hooked up to?

From what you wrote, it seems like you are taking it easy. To build boost, you need to be pretty close to wide open throttle. Mash the gas to the floor and spin it out to 5000rpm. If it's not building boost by then, you have some other problems.

ya i was taking it easy, i was trying to get away from running it hard b/c i just installed it. so if i just slowly drive around, i wont ever get boost? by accelerating slowly, how high of rpms would i need to actually see boost?

accelerating slowly you will never see boost in 1st-3rd gear. 4th & 5th gear its usualy hard to avoid boosting.

open it up at 3k rpms. It should build boost pretty quickly.

by accelerating slowly who knows when you will see boost. All depends on how slowly you are accelerating.

Is there a big difference from 7psi to 12-14psi w/ a FMIC, 3" exhaust, T25, and stock cams/intake manifold/exhaust manifold?

It's big enough that you'll notice it. Oh yeah, and your turbo will definitely notice the closer you get to 14psi. If I were you, I wouldn't run anymore than 12psi on the stock turbo. If you already have a replacement turbo ready to go though... go ahead and crank the boost up!
