Ok here's to sum up the past events:

1) had the fuel pressure and timing incorrectly set, went for a 5minute drive and the exhaust manifold and turbo exhaust housing was cherry red.

2) Fixed the fuel and timing issues, converted over to a blow-through MAF and vented the BOV (Greddy RS) to atmosphere. Went for a drive and everything was great, until I heard a small "pop" and the turbo won't build pressure. Not even 1psi. Figured that an intake hose popped off so I limped it home and found out that there was no blades on the compressor of the turbo side. Crap... But the car still idles really nice, no weird sounds of pieces of turbo in the engine.

3) Took off the turbo today and replaced it with another used stock turbo. Vacuumed the whole intake and exhaust manifold (found out that the exhaust turbine was also MIA) and did a pressure test on the whole intake system, it held very nice at ~15psi (I only run the stock pressure of 7psi).

So I started the car up, let it warm up a bit and gave it a couple free revs, I can't build any pressure, not even 1psi! I didn't try to rev it too much I don't want to blow up another turbo. I do here some air rush out of the BOV when I let off the throttle. I'm going to check the swing valve by the FSM now. I did push the arm and it opened when the turbo was out of the car. And it seemed to work fine, but maybe it didn't close??

If anybody has any other ideas let me know. Thanks!

If you click on my sig you can see some of the specs on my car.

it wont build boost at idle without serious free revving

go drive it.

as Karmin mentioned. You won't build boost without load on your motor.

Drive it, come back with a

(If you then want to boost without moving, switch to an AUTO )

So I took it out for a quick drive. Yeah it built pressure right away. I guess I thought I could at least build a psi or two, I guess that was my stupid question for the month, lol. But the turbo is a little noisy, you can hear it spool down, like a bearing sound... I'll disconnect the oil outlet of the turbo later in the week to check for flow.

Thanks

Hey,

What happened to the blades on your compressor????

Especially since you were Blow through?

Did they blast your MAF and get eaten by your motor????

I'd do a compression test straight away.

The stock turbo compressor blades are only plastic so if they made it into the engine, they probably burned up.

The hot side of the intercooler caught alot of pieces, I vacuumed them out with the shopvac. The cold side didn't have anything it would have to break through both screens on the Q45 MAF. I'll pull the MAF today to check for damage. What are the chances of the exhaust wheel pieces flying into the exhuast manifold? I vacuumed that out also but I didn't see anything.

WOW your lucky!!!!!

Nothing should be going up into the Exhaust manifold.

It should be caught in your CAT or Resonator/muffler.Either that or it flew out the exhaust.

I'm running the BRM 3" exhaust so it's pretty much open all the way, no cat. I took all the exhaust apart anyway and vacuumed and tried to shake debris out, but didn't see anything.

Finished painting my car tonight so I'll check the MAF tomorrow. And if I have time do a compression test, if not later in the week.

Thanks

So I checked my oil flow and it seemed okay. I disconnected the oil drain off the turbo and ran the car for about 5sec and it filled the small plastic dixie cup about 1/2 way.

Still though if I drive it hard for a few minutes it will probably turn red. I drove it hard last night for about 30sec and it seemed to slightly change color.

Do you of anybody else's RB turbo's getting hot like that? Maybe I should get a tune since the Power FC is still on the base tune? I'd like to sort out all the problems before I bring it to the shop for a tune.
