Well I hooked up my boost gauge today and confirmed that I have no boost what so ever. I`m going to do the soapy water test at work tomorow to try to narrow this down. The engine is running great but has absolutely no turbo push at all.Hell my KA Stanza gets to 100kms faster than the 240 which is topping out at 163 and takes a while to get there, the KA24E could hit the fuel cut off easilly and the SR can`t get within 14 KPH of the shut off.Has anyone ever heard of this? The engine has 70,000 kms on it burns no oil, runs at normal temperature, no misfire good mileage running 94 octane and I did a FULL tuneup before putting the engine in.That includes a new clutch.

hello, i'm assuming you don't hear the wastegate or bov. Then why would you push it to 163 kph? Does your gauge read any vacuum? If it doesnt then its not hooked up right or broken. if it does then check your intercooler, exhaust mani, and all the piping. if everything looks good i'd say you have a seized turbo or some F.O. in there preventing it from spooling. doesn't happen too often but dont beat on it untill you get everything working right. LOL! good luck dude

Having not owned or driven a turbo car before I did not no for sure I had a problem untill I found I have no boost. It has been parked since I found this out and I did a leak test and have started to pull the turbo off. I regret not doing that when the engine was out but I really did not think it was going to be an issue. Live and learn. Thanks for the input though dude.

Update, the turbine is seized solid , I took the outlet elbo off and tried to move it by hand. I don`t have the right size 12 point socket at home to try to free it up tonight because it`s pretty stuck. I will get another turbo from the vender if the turbo is no good.Hmmm, got any t28`s,lol.

New turbo is in and the 240SR is back on the road. This engine is amazing, faster than the Boxter I once drove. One thing I have had happen a couple of times when pulling some serious lateral g`s in a corner is a momentary engine cut out , almost like the fuel cut @ 190KPH . This was with 1/2 tank of 92 octane in the tank.Any Idea`s anyone? Intake and exhaust are the only mods so far.

I got an idea...

You didn't hit fuel cut, you just starved the engine of fuel by taking your car around the corner producing your serious lateral g's. On a half tank, it is possible that when you took that turn all the gas sloshed around to one side not allowing your fuel pick up/pump to get any fuel. All that air with no fuel to burn it = super duper lean = KAABOOOM!!

That poor sr motor you should really do some reading on turbo cars before you do anything else. Seriously

They are a lot different than NA, you can very easily do a ton of damage if you don't know what you are doing.

Later,

Jason

Thanks for the input Jay, I appreciate it. I guess the poor sr20det is going to blow up when I take it to the race track again though (solo racing involving 2-3 lap runs and the odd 1/8 & 1/4 mile drag). Hmmm a sports car that can`t go fast around a corner without a full tank of fuel????I might as well be driving a Yugo, every car I have ever owned gets DRIVEN not parked at a show & shine. I`ll take my lumps if she can`t hack it.Peace

LOL

I didn't say that is what happend and I sure didn't say that you can't drive the car around a corner. I said, it is possible..... I read of a couple other people having problems with their fuel sloshing around and on tanks less than 1/2 full, they would experience a "fuel cut".

My brother's TT Supra has a bad gas gauge. One day we were driving around and me and him decided to do a couple of pulls. When he would hit it, the car would squat, take off, then hit what he thought was boost cut. Little did he know that he was on about 1/4 tank and the pump was being starved from the gas moving around in the tank.

So.. no, I was not trying to be an @ss or call you an idiot. I was talking of personal esperiences and I thought that I would try to help you out, especially a guy who said himself "Having not owned or driven a turbo car before I did not no for sure I had a problem untill I found I have no boost."
