Hi all, I’m new to the forum as I just basically inherited a 99 QX4. It was basic maintenance to give her some TLC up until a few days ago when my throttle cable stuck as I was on a very busy socal freeway :ohno: TERRIFYING. Got her fixed and all is well but I noticed that now there is no air coming from the foot and face vents - only the defrost vents. I did hear some clicking from behind the climate control panel but now nothing. I saw a post under a forum for a 1999 Q45t that the mixer door actuator is located above the gas pedal. Could it be the same for a 99 QX4? Can’t find the info anywhere. It would make sense considering I just had work done in that very location. Thanks for the help in advance :)

What you're looking for is the Mode Actuator, not Mix. The Mix Actuator controls the temperature, Mode controls where the air goes. You can see your whole HVAC layout starting on HA-28 here:

Can someone with any experience please just tell me where the *mode* door actuator is located? I’m just trying to figure out if any of these components happen to be near the gas pedal. I need to take it back to the mechanic to have them make it right and I’d like to feel confident telling them that it was affected because of where they were working. If someone can just please do me a solid so I’m not scrambling through pages of documents and illustrations. Thank you

It's above the driver's right foot. If you look on HA-29 you'll see the general location and a somewhat more detailed inset drawing. Unfortunately the older manuals are pretty terrible about R&I instructions for HVAC parts, they generally just give you a picture. However, I'd imagine you just need to remove the left lower dash to see where it is.

Thank you! There was no issue with this until I had the throttle cable repair so I’m gonna leave it it up to them to do the tinkering on this one. Thank you!
