No 3rd gear or overdrive

I lost my 3rd gear and overdrive all of a sudden. First, second and reverse work normally but it will not shift into 3rd or overdrive it just revs real high and won't shift in. I have been using the shifter in second gear and it's working fine. The fluid was completely changed on Sept 2012 via the method discribed on the forum. The fluid level is correct and it is not dark or burnt smelling....Any suggestions...Help! The code that came up was P0744...

What fluid did you use? A drain & fill may be beneficial to replenish the additive package in the fluid.

I used
Valveoline Maxlife ATF and I did a complete return line flush as noted in the forum. I did this back in Sept 2012. The truck is a daily driver and has worked flawlessly until the noted problem.

Hm, I doubt the fluid is an issue but a drain & fill (one gallon's worth) is easy and cheap and would knock that off the diagnosis list. Have you ever done a pan drop?

No I have not yet.

The truck is still experiencing the same symptoms so I took it to a trustworthy independent transmission shop. He did a road test and ran it through his computer and said it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. It looks like another Pathy is about to be retired as it will cost approximately 3000.00 to 3500.00 to have it rebuilt or more for a new one. Does anyone know where a person can purchase a good used transmission ?

I paid $1850 for my truck with the exact symptoms as yours for the transmission to be removed, rebuilt and reassembled and a short warranty.

Literally the same problems as you, 3rd and OD just disappeared
