this is technically in reply to Fred's statement in another post... but it was getting off topic there

Fred:The Nitto 555s at the drag strip... well... um... SUCK!!!! hehehe... cuz I gots em too (though you know that)...

They like to just spin out for a 1/2 sec or so before gripping... I'm going with TOYO Proxies next

yeah too slick for good off-the-line..

I noticed that almost right away after I bought them..But then they <do> seem to grip well when warm, are not a lot of money have strong sidewalls , which our cars need, and come in the right sizes

Back in the day when I owned my supra year 2k or so, Nittos had just came on the market and were known for great street legal drag tires or close to them.

Now it seems as though they suck. They always used to be known as great drag tires, that's what they were for, not overall handling.

What happened

These are the 555Z street performance tires. very different tire.

I have just the 555s in the front and theyre decent.... Theyre grippier than the sumitomos... They do grip better once you drive on them for a while.....

Ill be going with bridgestone RE050 next time, as thats what i have in the rear.

Burnouts on such a tire actually will make them harder, burnouts are only important on tires that are made for drag racing and such. The Nitto 555R is the actual drag radial and I agree about the bfg's.
