A few issues regarding the G-35 coupe!!!I have viewed the 6 Speed transmissions in new model training several months ago, and the transmission is very beefy, first gear main and counter looks like a ring gear and pinion. On the reverse gears, instead of using the LOUD spur type gears, they switched to a Helical gear type which will cut most of the reverse noise to a minimum. They also improved the center support plate, which most people know will break when you do a bearing job on the older Z-cars. The clutch disc/plate and bearing is a different set up than Nissan/Infiniti has ever used before. I don’t feel this is going to be an issue of weakness by no means!!This is a very high tech car, and consumers need to be aware of certain things before attempting to achieve more horsepower and torque.(INCLUDING NITROUS)There are about 642 pages alone, in the ESM (Electronic Service Manual) pertaining to the engine control for the G-35 coupe, I could spend weeks discussing formulas, tables, break downs of items concerning engine control.I will discuss the Controlled Area Network (CAN) system on the G-35.CAN is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with two communication lines, CAN H (high) and CAN L (low) lines, allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. In other words, each control unit transmits and receives data, but selectively reads REQUIRED data only.Data messages transmitted from any module on a CAN bus (transmission device) do not contain the address of either the transmitting module or any intended receiving module; instead, an identifier that is unique throughout the network labels the content of the message. All modules on the network receive the message and each performs an acceptance test on the identifier to determine if the message, and thus the content, is relevant to that particular module. This is the part of aftermarket chips and such might give some problems, if a receiving message is relevant, it will be processed; otherwise it WILL BE IGNORED!On the G35 , a list of the control units linked by the CAN system include:1. Electronic Control Module ( ECM)2. Automatic Transmission Contol Module ( TCM)3. Data link connector4. Body Control Module ( BCM )5. Steering angle sensor6. ABS actuator and control unit7. VDC/TCS/ABS control unit8. IPDM E/R ( Intelligent Power Distribution Module Engine Room)
So you see there are many things that come into play when dealing with the G-35 sedan or the G-35 coupe, and that is just barely scratching the surface. Give the vehicle a few more months for more information regarding the vehicle options, it is still new to the auto market!
