This is really more of a KA forum thread, but since it is here, and sort of a forced induction (although not positive pressure, just increased O2).
My $.02"For a shot that small you can use any of the commonly available kits, I would start at 50hp and work towards 75hp. It can be very safe if properly used. Since it is a 'cheap' way to make power, you need to do research on how to do it right.
But Turbo FTW, let me tell you why. You are talking about a kit that is $500-1000 depending on safety accessories and the level of tech in you kit. But let's say you spent 500 bux, and a turbo kit is 2888. 2888-500= 2388. At $45 per 15lbs fill, you will get about (2388/45)=53.06 fills. Depending on the length of your shot and the HP increase you will spend 1.5+ per shot, 53.06 fills equals 796lbs/1.5 = 530.66 shots. So, if you juice 1 time each day you will get 1.45yrs or about 1 year and 5.5mos. And for all of this you get a 50hp shot, which will put you in the 170whp range.
For $2888 you can have the Greddy Kit, which has shown to produce at least 210hp without the cooler, and will do so for a very long time. If you do NOTHING else, you can boost more than 1 time per day and do so for 100K mi.
At 12k mi per year, that is 8.3yrs. If you only boost twice per day that is 6083.33 times that you will hit your peak HP of 210whp. Or almost 6100 smiles. Plus, I think it is worth mentioning that even when you don't boost, your manifold pressure would not be as high as it is with the turbo, so you will still be making more torque than you would without it.
Bottom line, Turbo FTW!
