Rather than using air to inflate my Tires, I am looking to use Nitrogen, which is available at my local Tire shop.

Is anyone else using Nitrogen?

Regards

Oxygen and ozone are the number one destroyer of tires.Michelin doubles the O2 content [in the pressurized air] to do accelerated failure testing........with 100% O2 thay can make tires fail in 30 days.

Whether pure dry N2 will add life is a good probability, getting moisture out of the charge will change the way pressure changes upon normal heating due to speed.

No down side I have ever heard of or seen.

Quite familiar with dry Nitrogen as all high power radio/TV/microwave wave guides use it to increase the dielectric strength of the air inside and to eliminate corrosion.......what you are doing inside a tire...........many premium tires [Michelin] have a gas barrier inside to help keep the O2 away from the metal cords.

" Actually the biggest problem with heating tires is not the gas in the tire, but how much water vapor got in there with it. Usually its quite alot when you use a conventional compressor to fill the tire.

I believe a key reason F1 cars (and airplanes) use Nitrogen is not so much because its a better gas (although it does have some advantages), but because it is arriving via a tank, there is much less opportunity for water vapor to get in with it.

Would nitrogen affect the weight of the wheel/tire package? Does it leak out fast?

Also nitrogen does not expand with heat or altitude, I have run nitrogen in my teams RSR Porsche and have never had problems!

Nitrogen gas is not subject to Boyle's Law? That's the biggest news since cold fusion.

it shouldn't leak out any faster than regular "air"
