pretty straight forward just looking to discuss the two, i can get the super deals on nistune installed/tuned right now but is it worth the extra 1000 to go for pfc, aiming for ~400hp

Etiher should run a basic setup just fine. Most of what you're going to get going to something other than a stock ecu is going to be flexibility in how you run the engine like gear based boost control and other fun things. But for 400whp you should be fine.

That's not bad. All depends on how good the tuner is in the end.

I have no comment on PFC, but I currently have Nistune in my drift car. I found a shop that can tune it and have gone through iLL Garage out of Chicago for years. I don't mind the Nistune, but iLL recommend i go with AEM instead. I didn't have the cash at the time, but it is a goal of mine to switch over. I did a full wire tuck and removed sensors I felt I didnt need. Nistune requires a couple sensors that AEM doesn't, so I couldnt make my harness as skinny as I wanted. The most noticeable thing about Nistune is its throttle catch on rev fall. If you slow down and down shift, the car works as normal. If you are at higher RPM and go into neutral and let the car fall to idle, it will die. Example, if I'm accelerating from one light and I'm at 4k RPM and the light in front of me turns red, I shift into neutral and left foot brake while lightly pumping the throttle to slowly bring it down to the resting idle. If I just went into neutral the car would die.

Wow ive never heard of that before that would kinda suck daily driving, Thanks for the info but im in the same situation as you w/o the funds, I think I may just get nistune until I can afford a rebuild and pfc, I am also interested in doing a full wire tuck, what sensors can you safely remove though?

CJH, is your blow off valve vented to atmosphere? That's usually what causes the stalling issues.

As for what ECU to go with, it's always going to be what your tuner likes best. There are a ton of good systems out there and it's always going to come down to how easy the tuning interface is. I'm a dealer for Apex'i, AEM, and Haltech, and unless something changed that I didn't catch, the Apex'i software is pretty antique.

the converted: Yea, I vent my HKS. I know recirculating it is better, but the child in me likes hearing it hissssssss.

J: My Nistune is vented and tuned. I got so use to it, I don't even notice the left foot braking. I can get in my stock hatch and drive normally, and get in my fully done coupe and drive different without even thinking about it. Your body just gets use to it.

As far as what I removed, its been a while so I don't remember everything. I thinned the entire harness. All the emissions were pulled or blocked. I rewired everything so I could do it the way I wanted too. I also installed a master kill switch, and a kill switch for the fuel, spark, ecu and electric fan. Check out my build if you're interested. Lots in there.

AEM can run MAF or MAP

Just run blow-through MAF. You'll hear the BOV and not stall. Have your cake and eat it too.
