So I emailed nistune hoping to answer my question. Figured I'd give you guys on the forum a chance to answer the question first.....

Hi,

I've been doing some pretty extensive research and I am very interested in purchasing your product. I have a 97 Series 2 RB25DET in my S14 240sx and I saw on many forums as well as on your FAQ section of your web site that there are a few options for 25 owners. However, I have yet to find any conclusive information on whether or not this is in any way possible for the series 2 motor. I know that the ECU and the ignition coils are different from the series 1 in the sense that the ignitor chip was eliminated and integrated into the ECU and coil packs. Common sense tells me that if I change my wiring harness and add an ignitor chip even possibly change my coil packs, theoretically, it would work. My ultimate inquiry is..... Is it at all possible for me to use Nistune on my Series 2 motor without changing my wiring harness, coil packs, etc.?

Thanks,

Mike

The ignitor chip was integrated into the coil packs only. A s1 ecu will work on a s2 because I ran one for about a year. I did eventually switch to s1 coils because they were cheaper to replace; but I don't see why you would have any problems with it.

Wow! Really? I have been told by many that the series 2 motor would fry a series 1 ecu. I don't understand why there is so much confusion on this subject. Aside from that matt at nistune replied to my question and says he has 10 R33's that he has done himself and none have a problem running the z32 ecu. I'm sending him a pic of my ecu board to verify it is indeed the same/compatible and if so I guess I'll be ordering my new NIStune!
