Hey Scott. Thanks for the diagnosis. Is the bad/cracked coil pack (rear bank cyln#1) the one on the rear passenger side?

And is this kit all I would need in terms of gaskets/o rings?

I'm not Nistech but that's what you'd need and yes the #1 cylinder is the cylinder on the back of the engine nearest the passanger side.

thank you.

So which kit has everything, Felpro or Ishino?

I've always been a fan of Felpro. I've never even heard of Ishino.

Thank you MaximA32..

I will order the Felpro gasket set tomorrow. In Scott's diagnosis it states that I just need the rear valve cover gasket, but I could only find the full set.

Scott's diagnosis verbatim is this.

"Leaking oil in rear spark plug wells. Verified intermittent misfire. Was able to isolate misfire to rear bank #1 cyln. Removed coil and plug. Found oil on ploug and in spark plug well. Recommend replacing rear valve cover and recheck. Also found coil tube cracked and leaking spark to wet oil tube. Recommend replacing coil when doing gasket."

So what I am getting from this is that I need to replace the coil pack in #1cyln, the gaskets/grommets/o-rings and possibly the plug that has oil on it.I wanted to ask him but the shop was really busy today.

Am I correct?

That would be correct. If you've never replaced the spark plugs, now would be a good time to do so. I know Autozone carries NGK for a very good price. I picked up my Iridiums for ~$5 each.

Thanks for the reply Kenny!I now know exactly what I am in store for.Actually I just put in ngk iridiums in 6000 miles ago...So if i can get away with just replacing the oil soaked plug then I will.

You should be fine with just replacing that one if you just did them 6000 ago. You should take pictures and do a step by step write up so I can give you a custom title of your choosing. Also, it will help other members that wish to do this as well.

Sorry havent been on here much. Didnt see your post till today. Yes the primary parts needed except the coil is listed. I wrapped the coil in electrical tape in hopes of temporarily reducing the spark to the tube. How has that worked out ? Did it do any good?

The only code your car had stored was the knock sensor code, no misfire or ignition signal primary code. Because of this it made it a bit more difficult to isolate the cyl missing. The miss was very intermitten and tended to happen more once it was warmed up and under a loaded idle [in drive,a/c on and such] I used consult to performed a power balance when it was intermittenly missing. The consult told me nothing. I had to listen/feel very carfully at which cyl's had no change when they were cut. #1 was the only one that didnt have additional intermitten drops when turned off. Upon pulling the coil out found it was split down the side and oil was present at the base of the plug and around the well seal ring. Added the tape and did not feel any further mis at the time.

With that kit and the coil you should be good to go. Maybe use some brakekleen to clean the oil off the plugs and in the spark plug tubes. go easy spraying the brakekleen in the spark plug wells dont want to flood or hydrolock the motor. With the plugs removed after spraying in the wells crank the motor over a few times to clear the fluid that get in the cyl's.

Thank you for the information Scott!Yes the electrical tape trick worked pretty darn good.I actually did that on my 240 when one of my stock wires had a crack in it.I miss being able to buy a nice NGK cable set for 60 bucks...Oh well, I will be doing the job probably next week sometime.

U ROCK MAN!

take care

Hey Nistech I was wondering, do I need a plenum gasket if I do the rear valve cover gasket?
