i checked the mount and all the rear suspension and it all looks fine. i had to jack up the car to look and after i let it down, all vibrations and hopping went away when i was driving home, right until i pulled up and parked. any ideas?

do those goofy a$$ wheels have spacers on the hub to help with alignment during installation. if so is the right rear wheel missing the spacer?

Ok maybe they arent goofy they just look goofy with the car "LOWERED" on top of them.

seriously your vibration felt like the driveshaft, either the joints or that center support bearing. that shifter oscilation when accelerating was the biggest sign of it.

I know we didnt really get up to freeway speeds but another indication of shaft probs is when your on the freeway doing about 60 steady then give it a little gas to speed up it goes from almost no vibration to a pretty good shake throughout the car.

After you check do the movement test on the support bearing drop the rear of the shaft down (index it before pulling the bolts out) and try moving the joints on their bearings slowly side to side if it feels like its catching any part of the way. you need to either have a shaft shop replace the u-joints or replace the whole shaft. As I told you the joints in the shaft are really not serviceable at your typical shop.

Hey maybe one of the guys at the tire shop didn't like you and did what we do to noob techs stuck some tape weights on the drive shaft before they go on their final test drive.

Actually it serves a dual purpose one it gives us a cheap form of entertainment second it says what kinda tech he will be. will he be honest and come tell us something is wrong or even test drive it well enough to tell that there might be a problem with his repair. So its not all mean spirited.

Hey Nistech, I was wondering if I'm having drive shaft problems as well. I get a slight vibrating sensation, kinda like a thump, but all my tires are brand new and they were all balanced. Another noise generator would be making right turns, it sounds like something's snagging real bad! If I do have a bad drive shaft, what years can I interchange with my 91 5 speed? Thanks!
