Hey Nistech,

My friend just bought a '95 NA 300zx with 60k. The owner's manual is a bit unclear on the timing belt change interval. For a lot of things, it's xx miles or xxx months. Because there's a footnote in the table, I'm not sure if the time interval applies. He's nowhere near 105,000 miles, but way past 48 months. Your recommendation? Should he do it, and if not now, when? Thanks a bunch!

ok it may be the 105k belt. but think about it this way, how does your drive belts look after a couple of years being in the weather? pretty cracked huh. This is the reason for time intervals.like oil components have a breakdown time frame due to elements. I would say do it. better to error on the side of saftey rather then budget. but be preparred to do the cam seals on it to since they tend to leak especially the right cams. do all 4 cam seals though if your gonna do any. also look for coolant tracking from the weap hole on the bottom of the water pump,if there is even a dried out trail on the water pump housing it self,DO IT, you would not wanna go back in to do it after tearing it down once already to do the T-Belt. As with the J-30 tensioner would be a good idea as well. There are 2 bypass hoses running into the intake manifold from the upper rad hose pipe ,replace those with the clamps. The old clamps tend to break. Do a T-stat since you will have the housing off already. the parts them self are really not that much. If you do it your self you could walk away only paying a couple hundred bucks. if you have a shop do it It will probably cost ya. labor in the LA area I assume isnt cheap. up hear near the bay area its around $100 an hour. They would soak ya for around 7 to 8 hrs for the job.
