The http://www.nissanversa.org homepage is way outdated and needs a revamp. The current design was one that Bob wanted "back in the day" and I personally think it's ugly. Looking for suggestions from "the Versa crew" on what they would like to see.

Whatcha got?

Get rid of the banner on the top. Change it to a front and quarter back view of the Versa. Have a couple tasteful pics of a modded Versa on the banner. It looks too much like a car sales website and a family car. If you check out fitfreak.net banner, it looks nice.

The links on the side, place them on the top instead and have them beneath the banner. Have a link to the aftermarket parts and have a JDM section for the V like NISMO parts and JDM parts.

Sounds good. I hated that damn banner but Bob was adamant that the page look like it does. I have a bit of time before I have more NICO web stuff to work on so I figure a squeeze in of some Versa updates would work well.

For modified Versa pix I'll look through the past ROTQ's.

Also, for the ROTQ, organize it better. Change the title of the section to Rides of the Quarter. Have a section just for them with the year (i.e. 2009), click on the year and the quarters come up with the names of the rides. Click on that and a gallery of pics will be there to check out.

All of that is going to change. I would prefer it to look like a mini "NICO ROTM" page with more owner input.

Here's a concept/idea I came up with. I chopped bulld0g's V and put it in a red gradiant background. It's clean and simple and sporty. The picture can be sized smaller to fit on the top with the banner.

FYI, Nissan's typeface is Akzidenz-Grotesk, regular and bold.

The design will be similar to http://www.g37driver.com / http://www.altimacoupe.com in that the banner itself will be around 1024x85 with a button bar right below it. I can easily use the colors you used.

I have the Nissan font "pack" which is probably the same thing but named "Nissan"

Is there going to be a separate forums like forums.versa.com? The market for the V is getting bigger every year and I believe that we ought to have a dedicated forums. Fitfreak.net is a perfect example of that...

Every time I want to read something or post something that is specific, there is too much clutter and disorganization. We ought to have specific sections in the forums and have more space for other topics like General Versa Chat, Engine, Audio, not just one forum.

That's to be seen yet. There are additional difficulties in Administration and management of different sub-sites within NICO that other vehicle-specific forums don't face. We are still ironing out issues with the four sites we have (Altima, G-series, ODPL and now Nissan Sport Mag). In the future? Probably. Before going that route I would expect the forum to really kick off first and double its traffic load. At that point I would be more willing to make it its own sub-site.

BTW, shoot me an email with a time you may be on IM tomorrow.

Check out myg37.com

I like how you have to click on the picture of the G37 (a different one every time) in order to get to the forum. I call it a Forum Foyer/Entryway. I know it's small, but it's a great way to show off rides and adds a nice touch IMO. Just something to think about!

Kind of removes any need for a homepage at all if it is simply a picture to click. I've wondered for a while why they make their members click on an image which resides on a relatively blank page.

I dunno. I was really involved over there when I had my G and kinda grew accustomed to it. I felt that it looked clean. They have a good forum layout too, but nowhere near the support of NICO.

Yeah. It is far easier to support a single vehicle than it is to support all of them, for both Nissan and Infiniti. We have to try and weigh decisions for what is best for NICO as a whole which does limit us in some situations. The one reason that I spend so much time here is it's the only large Nissan/Infiniti forum that is not owned by a corporation. myg37, my350z, g35driver, etc. are no longer enthusiast-run sites in my opinion and that takes a lot of the interest away.
