Post

Afternoon,

I am new to the board, not sure this is even the right place to post this, so I apologize in advance, but am looking for an answer to hopefully save me quite a bit of money on a new Catalytic Converter. Recently had my Xterra in the dealership, and they told me I needed to replace the "Bank 2" Catalytic Converter. They quoted me at $1350, which I think is a bit ridiculous. I looked into a few places online where I can buy a "direct fit" converter for roughly $200-$300.

My questions:
1) Is "Bank 2" the front drivers side converter? I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra SE 2WD

2) Any suggestions on where to find this part, Direct Fit, reasonably priced?

Thank you for your help/suggestions, in advance...I am admittedly not great with cars, so any suggestions help

I moved this to the Nissan trucks forum...

Bank two is the passenger side...

OEM probably isn't necessary, heck an exhaust shop could probably weld up a universal one pretty easy.. That might be the route that I take. Although, I live in a state that doesn't have emissions, so I don't have cats.... :naughty:

Well, I noticed the OP's posting date but here's goes anyway.

If you're in Cali, you need a CARB certified one. These tend to be 2-3 times more expensive. If not, a "49 state" will do. The price range you quoted seems in the ballpark for a decent one.

Check out RockAuto, Autopartswarehouse, even Amazon sells them.
