nissan xterra 2003 fan only works on 4
Hi everyone I am new and I am in the land down under. Just purchased a second hand xterra I believe you call them in the states. (xtrail down here) Destroyed my 2010 subaru? I would be grateful if anyone could explain why the blower fan only works on setting 4. I am a comms tech but find this unusual. And what to pull out to get to it I was thinking it must be a pot.? Checked the fuses already got the head audio out due to putting in the bluetooth for mobile phone. Why does it work at all 1,2 ,3 I would love to know. Regards.

Here at NICO, we have Factory Service Manuals available free to members. Take a look at the link in my signature and find the FSM for your car and you'll have all the info you'll ever need to make the repair and try to diagnose it for yourself while help is on the way.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, this thread explains how to repair it.

They generally fail when airflow is restricted in some way... possibly a very dirty cabin air filter if your model has one, or a failing fan motor.
