Got a 2005 Nissan X-trail, Manual, 4WD last year. The shocks were were worn out so it was a terrible ride for awhile.

The front shocks were leaking so I changed those couple months ago, and 2 weeks ago I changed the rear shocks and one of the lower control arms on the front. Sway bar links are fine. (it's 4 struts, I only switched out the shocks and reused the springs)

The ride is just godamn stiff! Even a small crack in the road I feel it, as if the shocks get absorbed by the car rather than the suspension. Sure my turn handling is much better now, but road cracks are just terrible compared to my gf's '05 civic or an '08 astra, it's like there's no oscillation to smooth out the bumps. Do I need new springs or something? The shocks are KYB's in the back and Monroe's in the front.

What shocks did you put? Changing the springs can improve the suspension of your rig also.
