Hey do you guys think its worth adding the Nissan 300ZX (Z31) and Maxima (First Generation) voice warning system to the 1990-1996 Infiniti Q45?

I first heard about it in thise topic: zerothread/16380 And I could'nt beleive my eyes when I saw it was true. But then I heard how it sounds here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8SCGhc4AC0, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4OKE_9_jDg, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsDxJdwBEaw and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C78ZFeElac.

All of the above sounds old because it uses a little phonograph: http://jalopnik.com/5246380/19...obots.

But what if we could get it to sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onsJ9i2p3yE I am sure many would like it better because its a more clear voice....

But I am undecided because on one hand its cool but on the other it sounds soooooo old.

I had this both in my brand new 1982 200sx and 1986 300zxturbo- was quite a conversation piece back in 1982!, especially as a young college student....a talking car!!!!

The female voice quality was very good, except in extremely cold weather the Phono motor would runa little slow causing the voice to change, like she was sleepy or drunk!

Wow... I never knew how those worked! My Mom had a "gray market" Maxima that didn't have the voice warning - but I remember it in other cars. Reminds me of the Eddie Murphy deal about talking cars... "Hey man somebody stole your battry, I say we go get the Muther... !"

Every datsun owner I've ever known who had a car with this feature ended up wiring in a switch or a wire disconnect to shut it up when they weren't looking to impress. It's ANNOYING. Very neat, certainly, but also annoying.

ANNOYING???? It was hardly annoying.......maybe for forgetful or drunks? I mean, honestly, how many times do you drive off with a door open or your parking brake on? Or let your fuel level drop down to empty? For those ATTENTIVE owners, a voice warning condition was RARE.....and I say that having 2 Nissans back to back with the feature and a total driving of over 275,000 miles between the 2.

I'm just not a fan of car warnings AT ALL. For instance, I permanently disabled the seatbelt warning on my LS. Why? Because I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. I can't stand driving without one. But I don't put it on until I've started the car, especially in the winter when I'll wait for it to warm up. I don't want to hear the dinging, or a voice. You've actually got it backward: the warnings are MORE annoying to attentive drivers. I don't need the car to remind me. If my door is open, my headlights are on, or my ebrake is on, it's for a good reason. So the car can shut up and do as it's told.

You sure seem to have the entire world figured out for being 25 years old!

You could say that, though I would say that it's not so much "figured out" as "classified." I have a very analytical view of the world that means I tend to break everything down to "makes sense" and "doesn't make sense." I don't like things that don't make sense to me.

Unnecessary reminders/warnings (be they from my car, my computer, or my stupid cell phone) don't make sense to me, so I don't like them.

But that's beside the point. I just found it interesting that multiple people came to the same solution to a shared annoyance separately. So perhaps anyone installing the device in the Q should add an off switch just in case.
