Well today was the first day of snow for Connecticut and i get a nasty suprise. A mysterious puddle of pinkish fluid under the car in the front left tire area i have not been back to check this puddle but i made my morning commute with no problems

Nowhere online can i find factory specs for the stock fluid colors in Nissan Vehicles now ive had the car about 5 months and have put on over 5k in miles

any help would be great!! to find out what this is and where its comming from.

You don't want to know...bring it into Nissan. I forgot what the pink stuff was but I drove a 240sx before that had this issue and the car was overheating every 15 mins. Might be something else...maybe the pink stuff didn't have to do with anything. I have a really big headache right now and can't think because i havn't had a cig in a day...I'm not quiting...just don't get paid until Friday.

The pink stuff is normally automatic transmission fluid... but you mentioned having an SL, which would mean you either have a CVT or 6-speed manual. The CVT fluid is supposed to be green, and hypoid gear oil (for manual, and possibly final-drive on a CVT) is a brownish color. Power steering fluid can be pink, but this car does not have a power steering pump. Y'got me.

Here is a color guide for fluids;

Red/Pink= Automatic transmission fluid and power steering fluid, OR Windshield washer fluidRed = Coolant (Toyotas)Green = Coolant (most japanese and american vehicles) OR CVT fluidBrown = Motor oil, hypoid (gear oil), burned power steering fluidOrange = Coolant (general motors) Blue = Coolant (Volkswagen/Audi/Porsche) Or Windshield washer fluidPurple = Windshield Washer Fluid with bug removerBlack = Motor oil that hasn't been changed in over 10,000 milesPeanut-Butter color = Coolant/Motor Oil mixed (blown head gasket). Amber/almost clear with strong solvent smell = Brake Fluid

Hope this helps!

The wiper fluid reservoir is near the front passenger wheel (i'm not sure what you mean by 'left' - looking at the car or from inside the car). It could be that with the recent freeze there was a small crack in your fluid line and/or reservoir. Check your fluid levels to see if it looks lower than it should be.

Chevy's also use Red/Pinkish Coolant in thier vehicles...and like I said in another thread...I haven't looked under my hood since I bought Versa Numero Uno....that's been about 9 months so I have no idea what our coolant looks like... man do I feel stupid...

Nissan uses a dark green coolant (standard ethylene glycol, supposedly different from the off-the-shelf stuff, but likely compatible) GM's Dexcool used to be orange, maybe they're using a different formula now.
