Thanks largely to the excellent support of this forum, the Nissan Versa is now the best represented 2007 in TrueDelta's panel, with 70 cars signed up to help out.

The Camry, which has been on sale for much longer and sells in much higher volume, is now one car behind.

Thanks for all the help, everyone. This is truly incredible, and will serve to demonstrate that an alternative to Consumer Reports is possible.

So far 25 of these 70 cars have responded to the survey. This is actually higher that the overall response rate in the first few days of 25 percent, but I expect the number to reach at least 40. The higher it gets, the more solid the results will be.

If you only signed up in the last day or two, you won't have received an email to complete the survey yet. You'll be included in next week's follow-up email, as will anyone who signs up in the next few days.

This line is specifically for all those who find CR unreliable. Especially after the fiasco earlier this year with the child safety seat tests. And I know we have quite a few members who would like to have a reliable, unbiased alternative to CR. So Sign up and keep your data up to date.

Hear hear... I always like to hear what sources other than CR say, because I've found CR to be unreliable at best in the past.

Just a reminder: unbiased can cut both ways. Whatever the data say, that's what I'll be reporting.

As anyone who reads these boards knows, the Versa is not a trouble-free vehicle for everyone. I've also noticed that cars bought soon after a new model is introduced have higher than normal repair rates. For example, the Dodge Caliber has dropped from around 1.1 repair trips per year to about 0.7 as the initial bugs were sorted out.

The good thing about my frequent updates is that as soon as the bugs are sorted out, it'll be apparent in TrueDelta's results. No waiting a year for the next update.

Just report everything as accurately as possible, and we'll all have better information as a result. Any trip to the shop for something other than maintenance or one of the listed wear items counts.

This isn't CR, where people can decide whether or not to report a repair based on how much they like the car. Which partly explains why the average repair rate in TrueDelta's results is about four time the average problem rate in CR's results.
