Good Day, Well I couldnt find another thread with this topic. So if this is the first thread regarding this issue, please, lets keep it related to the MR18DE and MR20DE engines. As well, if this is going to be a landmark thread for people who want to do it, like myself, I dont want to read through junk reply's and people saying things that disregard the setup.

THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD TO SEE IF ITS POSSIBLE AND TO GIVE EACH OTHER FACTS AND INFORMATION REGARDING THE SWAP. PLEASE KEEP BAD COMMENTS OUT AND LETS JUST HAVE AN INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION ABOUT THE SWAP!

it is possible............theyre the same engine, only thing thats different is the stroke.......and different oil dipstick..........

this is not like going from a GA16 to an SR20, im pretty sure with the right mods the MR18 picks with the 18hp/20ft lbs to match the MR20.

i think the aftermarket is not there either to justify a swap.

I agree with you Shiryu0, the aftermarket is not there yet, but with the right equipment you can get more horsepower.

Here in Panama, there's a guy that managed to get Justin Nenni to tune up his Tiida sedan (HR16) and got 55HP more to the wheel (take in count that the HR16 comes with around 107HP). That was on January of this year. Here is the link to his site on cardomain for more infohttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/2593855/4

Probably not worth the time and effort for 20hp and then not be able to do anymore (due to lack of aftermarkt being the same on the 2.0 as the 1.8).

And seriously, reduce the size of your sig.

There isn't anything out there to justify the swap. You get only 18 more hp and lose a mpg or 2. There is just about as much aftermarket for the MR20 as there is for the MR18, almost non-existant.

While it'd make more sense and probably be easier than, say an SR swap(which is another argument for the pointlessness of taking a new car and putting in a 10-20 year old engine), it doesnt make much sense to do it.

<-07 versa and 91 nx2000, been thinking about this for a while, and all i can really come up with is designing a new intake/exhust setup, and maybe(big maybe) a small(you hear me SMALL, t3's dont belong on 1.8's lol) for alil more grunt on the hills. I wouldnt swap the mr20 in, from what i hear every things the same cept the crank/ con rods, so if your gonna make a project out of it and spend 10k on a new moter, build mr18 with good parts, change it to 2.0 but no need for whole new moter. and for putting the sr20 into the versa, id rather throw the mr18de/6speed in the nx, youd be surised how much a 600 pounds or so in weight saveings helps:Pand i do applogies for those who wont beable to read this ramble, i just woke up...

I can get the ENGINE for $500 CDN. Would this swap be a simple in out I wonder? Or would it involve changing sensors n stuff? Like the ECU, will that have to be changed? If its mostly the same engine, all the sensor inputs and outputs should all be the same, I dont know, I guess it has to be done in order to find out the answer.

I'm sure the entire enginge harness and ECU would need to be changed. There are always things that are different from engine to engine, no matter how similar they are.

It's not worth it, plain and simple. Save the money for your GT-R.
