Car: Nissan Versa 2007

Post

Hello everyone,
I joined to ask some advice on a Nissan Versa 2007. I have the opportunity to "buy" my dad's car from him. He has had no problems with it so far. It has about 93,000 miles on it. I am currently driving a 2004 manual VW Beetle with approx. 123k on it. He thought it would be good to replace my car with a car that is a little bit newer and has a less miles on it. Currently, my car is having no major issues other than cosmetic and I am wondering if it is worth replacing my car with my dad's. We can't afford a new or a used car for at least two years and are trying to decide which might be the better car to hang on to until then. My cousin had heard that the Versa is having transmission issues around 100k miles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

My kids have my first two Versas, CVT SL's with 130,000-150,000 miles each. (2007 and 2008) No transmission issues. I'm obviously prejudiced, but there have been users here with 200,000 and even more miles, and no major transmission issues that I remember. Take care of them and they seem to hold up. Good luck with the decision!

Nissan extended warranties on CVT's that cover 2007-1010 Model Years:

Good for owners of those model years, and makes me wonder what defect is so bad that they felt they needed to extend warranties across the board for the CVT's in the model years listed.

Not so good for my 2014 Nissan Versa Note that is currently sitting at the Nissan Dealership awaiting it's Re-manufactured CVT Replacement. It has 51,000 Miles on it.

Happy that my CVT failed before the 60,000 Mile Warranty expired. Wondering what would have caused such a premature failure of the CVT at only 51,000 Miles. Design Defect? How many miles past my 60,000 mile warranty will the Re-Manufactured CVT Fails if it has the same design defect.
