I noticed that Nissan is offering a upgrade to their default alarm system.

"-Responds to damaging impact to vehicle glass and painted surfaces" -$70

I was wondering if anybody has this on any of their Nissan vehicles. My rogue was broken into last week and the f'in loser broke my passenger glass. I was considering one of those systems with a mic but I couldn't help but notice this one made by nissan as it just adds on to the factory system.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know vehicle vandalism/theft can be frustrating. I've been there as well.

You can add a motion/glass break sensor but do you think it would have prevented your vehicle from being broken in to begin with?

Car alarms do not deter thieves or prevent someone from damaging the vehicle. Many times the glass can be broken and items stolen before anyone knows/realizes what is going on. It only takes seconds to break into a car a steal whatever the thief wants. Add to the fact people have become so used to car alarms going off.... they basically ignore them.

I know, doesn't give us much to fight back with....

Actually I do think that if I had an alarm that it would have deterred the thieves. I only think this because of the location I live. I live in an apartment complex that is very quiet every single night (its sort of located in the woods). If I heard the alarm go off I would've immediately ran outside (as alarms never go off here). Unfortunately I live on the second floor but the person who lives on the first floor (right where the cars are parked) just happened to see "dark shadows" walking around and leaving. He called the cops but didn't hear any glass break (they had already done it). I consider an alarm going off good for several reasons due to my location: It is extremely quiet and in the woods (I live in the country sort of). So an alarm would actually cause some commotion and receive attention as it is virtually unheard out here. On the other hand because, of this any attempts to break-in without setting off the alarm (i.e. breaking the glass) would probably be successful as there is literally no one outside at night. Let me put it this way. I live in a decent apartment community (probably the reason why they targeted us) but prior to the week my car was broken in, two other cars had their windows busted out too. No alarms ever went off, no one ever found out. My mother live in Los Angeles so I understand how car alarms can be virtually ignored because you hear them all the time. But here in North Carolina I believe any alarm is better than no alarm. Would it have prevented my glass being bashed into? No. But I believe it wouldn't have given them the time to go through every crevasse of the vehicle. Not in a quiet apartment like this. Oh perhaps it is a false sense of security I want to instill in myself

I guess my experience has made my very skeptical. My Pathfinder was broken into while it was parked in an underground garage. No one would have ever heard an alarm (I did not have one, BTW) or even paid attention if it did. Car alarms going off were a pretty frequent occurrence.

When I had my 240SX with a straight thru muffler, I would intentionally blip the throttle while driving around underground parking to see who's alarm would go off. There would always be a couple of them.
