2009 S Rogue'tI never took notice of this until this past Friday night. After I used the FOB to lock the doors I just happened to look in the car and noticed that the Security display on the dash was on (Car symbol with the key). For the life of me I can recall ever paying anyattention to it before. It blinks its normal 3 times but stays on solid after that and never went off. My question, is this normal? Once I put the key into the ignition it disappears which is normal, Im just curious. For all I know it could have been like this since day one I just never had a reason to look at the dash after I locked the car.

Thanks,Tom,

The Security System is described on Page 2-19 of your owners manual. Here is part of it describing the security indicator light:

Quote »3. Close all doors. Lock all doors....

Confirm that the security indicator light illuminates. The security indicator light stayson for about 30 seconds. The vehicle security system is now pre-armed. After about 30 seconds the vehicle security system automatically shifts into the armed phase. The security light begins to flash once every approximately 3 seconds. If, during this 30-second pre-arm time period, the door is unlocked, or the ignition switch is turned to the ACC or ON position, the system will not arm.[/quote]It's important to note the security system in the Rogue works by sensing if any of the doors are opened. It does not include any kind of vibration/motion sensor. If a thief happens to break a window, tow your vehicle without opening doors, etc. the alarm will not sound.

You could easily augment the protection by adding an aftermarket security system.

Thanks Philip, I've read it before. It does its blinking as designed, I'm just not sure if it's supposed to remain on solid after that. Guess that's my question.

Hmmm, from what I remember the alarm indicator does blink once armed. Mine never stays 'ON' all the time. It will go ON solid when you unlock and then open the door though.

Like I mentioned earlier I just really never payed any attention to it before. If goes off after the key is inserted otherwise I would think I had a more seroius problem. If anything I would think the design would be to blink indicating it's armed as a deterrent as opposed to staying lit solid. It has to be drawing battery juice this way. I'll wait for some other postings to get feedback before I visit the shop. Thanks.

My Rogue blinks after arming it and after 30 seconds as indicated on the Owner's manual. You should have your Rogue checked at the dealership.

Thanks RO-G, I just checked it again a little while ago and it's working fine now. I'll keep an eye on it, if it happens again I'll get it serviced.
