Is the honeymoon over already? It's like you marry a Victorias Secret model who can cook and rock the bedroom but she makes you drop all your buddies, watch chick flicks all the time and swear off steak and beer. Worth it? I say no.

id like to maybe look into a 32 or a 34 for a track car in a few years, honestly i dont think its worth it for a street car because it costs way too much to get it legalized if you can at all and then id turn around and do stuff to it that would negate street legality anyway

of course a c6 z06 or LSx FD would be easier to get and build so those are also considerations

There was a 240SX for sale recently, were I not deep in other cars I would have rocked it for the OMG USEM factor. Something about a LHD KA24 in Japan sounds fun.

Pff. I'm 18 and I could afford one right now. Dunno if I can say the same about insurance, however. Oh well, I guess when I'm ready for a high performance car I can look around for an R33 or something similar.

hmmm. Can anyone say big brother is watching? After one spends 80k, they have to get the right to drive the car they way they want?

http://www.motortrend.com/feat....html

[/quote]Uhhhhhh... how does nissan own your car? the part you quoted says all that happens is a red light comes on when the speed limiter is reached, and you have to restart to turn the light off.

They give the the option to run it on track but running it on track voids your warranty.

Doesn't running your car on track void most warranties anyways? Don't most cars come with a speed limiter in the US?

Where does it say that they own the cars? How many other vehicle manufactures let you take a car under warranty to a race track and run it w/o voiding the warranty? I remember reading that either BMW or Mercedes voids your warranty if you hit the rev limiter a set number of times. Here, Nissan wants a safety inspection to keep the new car warranty. I don't think that is a big deal. If you're going to modify your car, you probably will void the warranty anyway. At least Nissan is giving drivers a chance to let drivers ACTUALLY RACE their cars while under warranty. Besides, I do not think that a safety inspection is a bad idea, considering all the stresses racing a car puts on it. It's one thing for Nissan to test the car with their fleet of professional drivers but for an amateur to go tear up a track is a whole other story. This car is a 6 month old chassis in the real world. They could have just as easily voided the warranty for taking the safeties off. All they want is to make sure that the supercars they designed don't go to crap on a highway. Ever lost a wheel? It's not fun. Simple things can cause huge problems. I say good job to Nissan for letting the owners race under warranty. I just wish with all the computer they have in there that they would allow one to adjust parameters, even if they were forced to void their warranty.

a fact that should have assured you it would not be a stock KA

I feel bad for the KA loyalists who get discounted by bandwagon JDM guys and would enjoy leading a one car foward-deployed insurgency on the streets of Japan.

Well, no, but I got it four years ago. What I mean is that I'm in the process of getting a settlement from that drunk that put me in the hospital a little while back. You might remember. The money is going towards college, but if I really cared I could plunk it all down on a GTR and pay it off. About the only thing that could make me do that however is if I could get one for very near sticker and knew someone willing to pay 120k for it.

Sure is funny how fast people on the interwebs reduce you to some stuck up little pissant with rich parents, eh?

that was a stupid comment it doesn't help the driver...

I actually agree with this:

The light is stupid but I think its understandable. You must remember that Porsche is being sued in California by some fool. This ladies husband crashed his Carrera GT and died. Shes suing because Porsche shouldn't be allowed to sell cars that fast.

The track mode? The other option is that you have people complaining when they roast their brakes after only a few thousand miles and go whining to Nissan about reliability. They are simply saying either race the car OUR way or pay to maintain it. Thats actually LESS restrictive than what other companies do. For example, Mitsubishi has become famous for giving drivers contingency money and then cancelling their warranties. While the $1000 is unreasonable, the principal behind it isn't.

enlighten me if I read this wrong, but is the warranty void if the owner doesn't go to a specialized nissan performance center and pay $1000 for the safety check, or did i misread?

What if the car is being transported on a plane or something? Nissan would be like "holy **** he's doing 600 mph!"

"...Oh, wait, he's also 40,000 feet above sea level"

Not that it's likely the car would be on a plane.
