Yeah, not much info there. Hopefully it will happen, especially of the FR-S/BRZ does well. I'm not holding my breath though.

Hopefully they base the looks off of the S13, S14, and S15 rather than designing a 2 door Sentra. Then trying to shove that down our throats as a cheap entry level rwd sports car.

They should just rebadge the silvia s15 as the s16.

If Nissan does make the s16.....please do not make it a big bulky car. Unless this is just going to be it?Image

That's kind of hideous. But if it performs like a S-chassis should, I'd buy one as a DD in a heartbeat.

What kind of engine do you think they'd put in the US S16?

Something 2.2-2.5L and MUST be turbo'd. But I see a slow heavy hybrid.. Is it wrong to assume that of all newer cars lol.

As the thread in Gen chat, I think the cars that died a long time ago NEED to stay dead instead of bringing them back to be not what they were. I would be ok with designing a car with ideas from the S chassis, but not call it and S16/Sylvia

=) this made my day. :mike

(edited) [added paragraph below.]

the design of the S16 should resemble the S15 more or loosely. this time i hope it can be manufactured with a single turbo or make a carb legal single turbo optional in the USA. a S16 I4 single turbo. :bigthumb: the MR engine from the juke is acceptable to reuse so no need for a redesign engine unless an I4 engine for the S16 is in the works. but it has to be rear wheel drive. please please please. wow. i just like the sound of the S16. id buy one asap. (when i have the monies $$$)
i would not even mind if they reuse the engine for the Versa sedan on top of a turbo manufactured with it. [i am hoping they bring back the JDM-ness back.]

Correction, after being able to see the pic (stupid computer), thats ok I guess. It really looks like the son of the S15, has an acceptable motor and still an SR, and is a 2 door coupe :) The only thing I would change is that disgusting color and maybe reshape the headlights alittle bit. But, I still think its a bad idea..

Not only will it compete with the frs/brz but the Hyundai genesis as well. The only way the car would be a success is if its priced right. Otherwise consumers would be willing to spend just a little more and get the z. (well the average consumer and not the hardcore Nissan fans)

My guess is that they would shove the MR from the Juke in there and call it a day. I'd be fine with that.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I think that there were some really great cars that need to be brought back. The thing is manufacturers need to try and replicate what those cars did so well in the first place. If they made an S16, for example, and Nissan stuck to the original formula then it would be a great little car.

I doubt it'll happen.

Maybe a hybrid with a CVT.

Nissan = Let's slap some 350z rims on it too. Fail IMO. They need to take more time and make the car look solid for the comeback. This is the concept the car was supposed to look like years ago. It failed with an Altima front end and G35/S2000 rear. Face lift looks better from the pic above but needs more work.

Unfortunately it will be a bulky, heavy, slow, non turbo hybrid car. If the price tag isn't under $25,000 -$30,000 I doubt it will make it.

i think it is very possible to make a S16 variant. possibly two styles like they did in 1989. a 180SX(240sx hatch usa) and 240sx coupe.
considering Nissan manufactured the 2011 Versa sedan starting at $10,000 usda ish thats about what could be put into the car as far as luxury features in a S16 to lower price. maybe make use of interchangeable parts from previous car models to lower cost cause anyway id modify it with aftermarket parts or strip it bare. lol.

like say the 240sx hatch model is just an NA MR18de or HR engine ( starting for 14,000 but close to 20,000 with an MR engine single turbo. then the coupe unfortunately can start 17,000 to 26,000 since it would be a bit longer, wider than the hatch, have more luxury features, have the MR engine single turbo included even in base model. but of course its timing and consumer demand so it depends on the market today. lol. now my issue is figuring out if they put the S16 in FM platform would it cost more?

and like someone above stated hoping Nissan follows the original formula. [cause im still upset the r35 is a V6. it should be inline 6 twin turbo. :ohno: i wanted to shove a new Nissan inline 6 in my Z32 thats why. Z's used to be inline 6 but im happy with a V6. lol] ...

psstt. :wavey: Nissan has to make the S16 a MR18det (single turbo) . 9.9 i want to have bragging rights that it is a single turbo. (can pass smog. ^.^) plus the MR18det passed regulations in California [super strict] so yeah. ima buy it asap!

Eh I see your point and its a fair argument, and welcome to Nico btw.. I just dont like seeing cars trying to make a comeback when they were as good and popular as could be back in the 90s or before. If they were to make it, it will never be what you would desire or expect it to be at all, it never really is with any car. That'd be great if it was a small 4cyl turbo motor in a small light car, but there is a 99% chance it wont be that. It wont be simple motor and brakes, itll be weighed down by a half ton of expensive electronics and paddle shifter manumatic transmissions. Best to just drive a 20 year old 240 :) I will get another one one day.

The back end kind of resembles the s2k a little. But i agree, old legends should either just stay dead or brought back right. Not powered by some stupid hybrid motors. But then again all new cars from the manufacturers are garbage... Nothing is good as it used to be..

Hell, chop 2 doors off a versa and make it rwd - for the price, I'd drive the f*** out of it. Would love to see another S-chassis with the j, q, k packages like the Silvia's of Japan had. Inline 4 or bust and no p**** hybrids.

thank you bro for welcoming me in Nico. i think that was my first post too. :gotme but i also agree with your statement that some cars should be left retired cause like you said its best to just drive a 20 year old 240. aha. its all market demand tho. well as far as style goes of course during the 90's imports,Americanas, and Euporeans had the form right. but i did not like the gentlemen's agreement or how outside the Usa there were hidden gem vehicles only sold there in Japan or Europe. it might be a while till the style gets back into place or maybe not. [i think they had like a Chip Foose guy suggesting styling of cars in Imports, americanas, and europeans in the 90's. bring that guy back! lol] but as far as electronics go safety is the thing now a days. paddle shifter huh? i remember that was a hit in the US for a while in Mercedes Benz or BMW. aha. of course for whos more macho ( hahaha ) thats a classic debate which one is better manual or automatic? thats opinionated by enthusiasts. both equality wow.

well this is just a discussion for the purpose of speculation. like i said i would even settle with the Versa Sedan engine which is an HR engine NA or have a sports option with an MR engine single turbo since it passed California regulation in the Juke. reusing an engine already produced shouldn't hurt much. i think. unless they're making one specific to the S16. hybrids are not bad man. i bet an EV one day will smoke a Bugatti one day but eat 4 days worth of battery charging. LMAO. i mean they would never give us a full blown performance car for five dollars would they? haha. we have to be willing for a price. and also let our voice be heard. and see if the BRZ or FT 86 is a big hit then maybe a comeback. but the S16 Silva's have to be rear wheel drive. i was getting ready to buy the 2011 Maxima but found out it was front wheel drive. style is there but not FWD. :frown: thats why i got a Z32 cause i miss rear wheel drive cars.

haha. ^--agreed. but EV's sound cool too; i wont spend 40-60 dollars on gas anymore. but im interested in that 3 cylinder hybrid. twin turbo, one turbo for gas and one for electric? i saw a post for BMW's M series manufacturing a I6 tri turbo. twin turbos for gas, one for electric. interesting right? the M series is no joke. like a R34 and R35. all in all make the S16 real. :dblthumb:

To stick with their "F**k you America, no turbo for you!" attitude I'd say they should call it the 250sx and throw in a RWD QR25DE. I'd be happy with that in an S-chassis.

Paddle shifters should be on a Ferrari or maybe even a Beamer, but not a f***ing Camry for Christs f***ing sake. I remember first seeing it on BBC Top Gear on like a Ferrari or something and it was a $10k option and worthy to be. And electronics I mean electric steering and electric diffs/transfer cases that are seen in alot of AWD cars today including the NSX (I think I remember reading front electric diff). Not to mention electric hybrid motors and battery packs. The latest STi's and Evo's are a good example of how pointless and overly complicated they can be with all the settings to choose from. Nothing is simpler than another driveshaft. Those big heavy parts can be difficult and expensive to fix when the time comes. My friend works at Chevy (unfortunately) and says theres a separate computer module for EVERYTHING, from power locks to engine management. Theres like 20 different ones bolted around it that are a b***h to get to

Dont get me wrong Im all for safety Im strictly talking perfoemance.

That S16 picture is from ~2004 or so. It never happened. Not even a little. It was never a Nissan concept. Some guy just photoshopped what he thought the S16 should look like at the time.

A modern S-chassis with a naturally aspirated QR would be burned at the stake for herecy.

No QR! Back then I bought my wife a new Sentra SER. It's been nothing but trouble since. I hate that motor. I would've traded it in but I would've gotten crap for it, so it's still limping along.

Hmm. They should have just stayed with the SR20DE engine for the Sentra. I know people to this day dog the mess out of them and they are still running good.

They need to have at least a 2.5liter turbo automatic/manual 5 spd transmission, Hatch or coupe, no CVT junk. Throw in a little retro 240z,260z 280z hatch look maybe?

An upgraded SR20VET engine would be very expensive and probably only available to import like the S15. The option for turbo should be available for all countries.

wah? :rotfl i like Asus. lol dang it deletes your comment. 9.9 i would be upset too bro.
ahhh...well you do have a great point about useless complicated crap. well i mentioned safety because currently alot of the tech they install with the car is kind of like so the driver doesn't do anything silly while driving. lol. i mean a camera that can spot a penny on the ground and force your car to stop. -__- what if i was drifting and that was still installed but instead of a penny computer forces my car to automatically stop for a rock! fail. lmfao. well geez dude let the people that cant offered a Ferrari or BMW (bad credit. jk. :wavey: ) have an option to play with paddle shifters in a camry. aha. Prius even! i mean it is an option right? options are good. things to consider is when new cars are manufactured im pretty sure every car manufacture checks on that specific model year what powertrain is more bought/if it rear,front,awd,4wd/ and to continue making it. they dont wanna make a car that a specific group wants and only makes sells like the PT Cruiser. Ohhh :poke: they'll only make a car if it sells like Z, or the Scion TC. or sell well like Camry. like if they make the S16 they would have to a goal of total sales world wide. i read BRZ, FT 86, have a goal of 100,000 or up they wanna reach globally.

i agree with you on the extra equipment can way down the car a little or a heck of alot. but ---- like are grandfathers with the Chevy Nova, Datsun 240z, Triump, or Buick Grand National, countless cars. we are going to mod the crap of the vechile to competite for the title for who is more macho in a car! hahahaha :rotfl why did we race for pink slips again? geez  if thats not macho i dont what it is. cause im faster? what a bunch of show offs.

regardless of how freaking heavy, extra electro junk, mediocre parts. im still going to mod it with after market parts. i love some DYI time with the tools and a beer. lol. imagine if they manfacture it the way we really want the car. now only rich people can afford it. thats what Ferrari, Bugatti, etc. is for.

im a true car enthusiast. i like all car makes. and i defiantly want to follow our grandfathers ways of modding a mediocre car and turn it into a performance car bring back the o.g trend. although like we talked about and both agreed.

the form and look of the car is the most important thing ever if it turns out mediocre in performance so i can consider modding it myself. like looks worth modding. looks cool to mod. [example: a smart car *mouse car* 900hp twin turbo. really guys? aha] i hope they hire Chip Foose to style some Americana cars they would bring back. and hire the guy that made nice import cars back too!!! i heard Mr. Foose got hired to style a certain muscle car. i forget which. hes my car idol man. but of course i want to own as many ridiculous cars like Jay Leno. wow does he have a collection. lol
