I recently received an offer from Nissan for a map update for the Rogue NAV system. I will state at the outset, that I am not a big fan of this particular system as it is lacking in some key features in comparison to other NAV units that I have used. The joke to me is that Nissan expects its customers to pay $149 ($129 if you act before 6/30 WOW) for the update to what amounts to a fairly antiquated system by today's standards. I even placed a call to Nissan to see if the update might possibly contain some new features but alas was informed that it merely adds new streets but no new features. Hell, for that amount of money I'll go buy an entry level Garmin (Nuvi 40LM) that comes with lifetime map updates, a superior user interface, spoken street names, split-screen visualized exit / entry display and traffic camera alerts. Final point, at the price we all paid initially for the Nissan NAV, one would think that the updates would be free and come as a matter of routine vehicle maintenance and good customer relations. Guess I'm delusional

Thanks for bearing with my little rant. Please chime in if you feel so inclined.

i couldnt agree with you more. you are 100% right. this is why i NEVER buy a car with nav. i always just use the cheaper and better alternative GARMIN portable units.
i just hardwire the units, and permanently install the mount(while the unit is removable.)
