Nice. They'll be in the class with the Audi R15 and the Peugeots right?

according to the Article it says class LMP2 in conjunction with a French based Signature group so, yes and no. The Audi R15 is run by Audi AG directly. I am not aware of any Privateer companies using the Audi Le Mans prototype vehicles, same for the Peugeot 908 HDi. LMP1 class is Manufacturers and LMP2 is for Privateers. So it wont be competing directly in the same Group.

Needs some coilovers, more camber, and a hood scoop!

I was about to post a thread about this...

Sweet article (who ever the author is)!

Too bad the car looks like a Audi R10 =/

well strictly speaking in Le Mans racing, there are usually around 50 competitors with 4 different classes running at once. LMP1, LMP2, GT2 and GTE Am (formerly GT1). Cars in class LMP1 will only directly compete with LMP1 cars same goes with LMP2 and GT class cars, even though all cars start at the same time and run the track simultaniously. If reliability fails the LMP classes a GT class car can win the series by virtue of completing more laps than the LMP vehicles but that is rare.

so for example there are 10 LMP2 cars competing that year and 10 LMP1 cars, the Nissan LMP2 could finish 11th overall (if it doesnt manage to out lap and LMP1 cars) but if it beats all the other LMP2 cars it wins in its class.

I knew that. I've been to Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Just the "Privateer" and "Signature" things are confusing.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Nissan forced a CVT onto that thing, too.

Cynicism aside, I'm glad to see Nissan looking back at motorsports again.

They're not stealing my allegiance from Audi without some hard work, though.
