Normally, the backup key inside the Intelligent Key fob is supposed to be able to start the vehicle by placing it into the ignition. Read your owners manual for instructions.

However, all keys (intelligent key or normal key) MUST be programmed into the vehicle by a Nissan dealer. This is because the Rogue uses an anti-theft system with an RFID chip in each key. Without the programming, the key cannot start the vehicle.
