Hello everyone.

I have a 2007 Nissan X-Trail T30 with the factory radio unit. The car was bought used and imported from the Netherlands to Ukraine, where I am located now. The car has legal documents, but going to an official Nissan dealer in the original country is not really an option for me.
The radio is locked and the display shows “SECURE”.
I do have the radio code, but I cannot enter it because the radio does not show the code entry screen. It just stays on “SECURE”.
The radio part number is 28188EQ300.
At the moment, getting the serial number is difficult because I would need to remove the front panel/radio unit, and I would prefer to avoid doing that if possible.
Does anyone know if there is a procedure to get the radio out of SECURE mode so I can enter the code? For example, do I need to leave the ignition/radio on for some time, disconnect the battery, or press a specific button combination?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You could try to hard reset the radio:
  • Turn on your vehicle. The car needs to be on for this to work.
  • Locate the power button for your audio system. This is usually the volume knob.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds.
  • Continue holding until the screen turns black and then the Nissan logo reappears. This indicates the system is rebooting.
  • Release the button. This process is similar to unplugging and re-plugging a computer, and it should clear any temporary glitches or memory issues with your radio. It's a quick and easy way to resolve many common infotainment system problems. If you continue to experience issues after performing a hard reset, it's best to contact your local Nissan dealer or a qualified service department for further diagnosis and assistance.
Iif that doesn't work, try resetting the radio by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes.

Nissan never marketed the T30's here in the 'States, so I don't have access to documentation like a USDM car. We also don't see any here in Arkansas like a shop on the Canadian border might. I can tell you from interactions on other Nissan websites that the radios on Canadian and Aussie T30's aren't difficult to access, and you won't need to take any radio connections off to simply pull the unit loose and get the serial number. Similar to an N17 Versa, the bezel surrounding the radio and HVAC controls is one big piece with only pawls holding it, no screws. Using a plastic prybar, start at the bottom and work to the top, popping the pawls evenly one or two at a time on each side. Once the bezel is loose, you'll have a connector for the hazard switch and maybe a couple others depending on the year. Then there are 4 screws holding the radio brackets (either phillips or T25 torx, again depending on the year). You may not even need to remove the bracket screws, the labels on most Nissan radios are on top and it may be possible to eyeball it once the bezel is loose.
