Even though you have a 2nd gen Rogue and this earlier topic was for a first gen, the answer should still apply, so I've merged the two topics. In short as I've stated previously, newer high end phones require as USB outlet with a 2.0A output, otherwise they will only get what's known as a trickle charge. If the car USB outlet is marked as the newer USB 3.0 you shouldn't be having charging issues, and if you are it's probably defective and should be looked at by your local dealership. The USB port on my first Rogue was defective, so they had to replace the head unit to fix it. Oh one other thing, not all USB cables are created equal. Some cheaper cables can't handle the higher amps, so even if the charger is capable of higher output, it won't get passed along the cable.coffenut wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 8:18 amI have a 2015 Rogue which seems to have an issue with the USB ports. When I plug in my phone to recharge it, it seems to drain the phone vs maintain a charge rendering using programs like WAZE useless.
Is this a common problem or is it just me?
If it is a common problem, is there a way to fix it?
Many thanks.
Thank you! I will ask my dealership and also invest in a rapid charger. I am assuming that is what they are called? Also, do you happen to know what I need to look for with regard to cables? Obviously, I have no idea what to look for and am feeling very stupid. I did try to look in the manual to see about the USB port but I couldn't find anything.Rogue One wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 12:43 pm

You could also use a rapid charger designed to plug into the 12v power outlet (what they use to call a cigarette lighter) and that would solve your problem.
Don't by the cheap stuff from eBay or the 99¢ store. I'd look for anything marked as USB 2.0 or 3.0. You didn't give any details about your phone, but you can always overpay for the official charger your cell phone company sells.coffenut wrote:Thank you! In any case, I really appreciate your insight.
The best USB car charger for most people and most devices is the Anker PowerDrive 2. We reached this conclusion after testing more than 35 chargers since 2013, including seven new models this year. Packed into this tiny charger is the capability to simultaneously charge two full-size tablets at full speed. It’s also able to differentiate between different devices to deliver the proper charging current to each, something not every charger can do. Though not the absolute smallest or most powerful charger we tested, it has the right balance of all the important features and a good price.
A 4-Port USB Car Charger from Anker is especially helpful when traveling with a full car, as it allows up to four devices to charge at full speed simultaneously, without taking up much more space than the competition.
