Is it possible to tap into the screen,i have this GVN 53 (GARMIN GPS) AND its got rca jacks red and white for sound and yellow for video,is their a wire or two that i can connect the yellow rca to so i can see the map on the screen, i can put a switch so as to switch between screens (oem and gvn53)i would be very happy if anyone can help me out,all i need is the video out to the oem screen,sound can go to aux.or any other alternative. Thanks.i want it to remain looking oem,or are they any other head unit that will just fit in place and still perform the same function as the oem,please advise me.Thanks for all your suggestions.

The simple answer: The HU screen is completely integrated and there is no easy way to add an external video signal.

The complex answer: It may be possible to hack in via the rearview camera/monitor. The signal appears to be standard NTSC composite video. However, you would have to live with the backup guides being superimposed over the screen. You can start reading on pg AV-73 of the Service Manual:

It's pretty technical, but if you are VERY knowledgeable in electronics you can figure out the signals and how to interface them. Here are a few hints for you:
