Well I can't say I'm surprised. Nissan's track record for Hybrids has been horrible. Pathfinder Hybrid lasted 1 year (2014), Murano Hybrid lasted 1 years (2016). Now the Rogue which made it 3 years (17,18, 19)

Well I guess that explains the heavy discounting on the Rogue Hybrid! :)

I can understand the difficulty of getting the Hybrid Rogue to catch on. EPA mileage for the Hybrid vs non-Hybrid isn’t as much as it is on lots of the smaller hybrids out there. I’ve got about 700 miles on mine since I bought it and only one short road trip up back hiways, got almost 40Mpg on that trip.
I’m going on a longer road trip this coming weekend and hope to get around that same mileage. But this road trip will be on 70mph hiways for lots of it instead of the 55mph hiways the short one was on.

Definitely the Aerodynamic is gonna cut back that 40Mpg's @ 70mph+
When you recalculate , Lparsons21 please tell us the differences .

I've got to believe the shape of the Rogue on Aerodynamics has little to play on the MPG. Look at the new Rav4. That that thing looks like a beast and gets way better MPG. I think Toyota is just way better at making Hybrids since they have been doing it for so long. All Nissan has is the Leaf and that is pure Electric., they just don't have the experience to get 2 types of engines working well together.

The SL AWD Rogue was advertised at 31 City MPG / 34 Highway MPG where the older RAV4 was the reverse 34 City and 30 Hwy. That is what you want, a car that gets better mileage in the city (ie stop and go). So Nissan's Hybrid Engine was really not that effective. Also remember Nissan dropped the 2.5 Cyl engine for a 2.0 in the Rogue, so that probably explains the increased MPG, not so much the electric engine in it.

I’m getting 33-37 mpg in around town driving on my Rogue Hybrid. I will admit to being easy on the throttle though. For me the Rav 4 wasn’t even a consideration. I’m just not a Toyota fan at all and the local dealer is enough of a jerk that it makes it easy not to do business with them IMO.
Yes, the Rav 4 does get better mileage but I don’t think it is a comfortable to drive as the Rogue. That is totally a subjective finding on my part.
Road trip is out for this weekend, my dog doesn’t travel well and my local kennel is full for the weekend. Probably go next weekend if they have space available.

I'd guarantee they're doing this for a very simple reason. The hybrid is a slow selling and low demand vehicle compared to the standard Rogue. All rumors (especially with the test mule spy shots out) point to the 3rd generation Rogue being available for the 2021 model year. Meaning this is the last MY of the current Rogue. I'd bet they've projected at Nissan that the current stock of hybrid 2019s will last until the new model is available, and also simplifies the assembly lines as they prepare to shut down production of the 2nd gen and re-tool for the 3rd.

It starts at the top.

When Nissan joined Renault, the craftsmanship of nissan’s brand just went down the tubes. Don’t forget Mitsubishi is part of this trifecta in this organization.

Yah, a Renault you say? You don’t see these ....ummm....wonderful cars here for a reason.

On top of the CEO being arrested.

Job cuts.

And the company not being profitable lately.

.....just saying. :poke:

Personally I felt Nissan should have gone it alone.

Also why is Nissan being led by some old French white guy?

It’s like having Lee Iacocca being the CEO of Toyota.

It’s like having a French chef making sushi!

When growing up, I always thought Nissan had the latest gadgets in a vehicle.

You would think they could get a hybrid right after creating the Nissan Leaf.

But when you have a French guy leading, you think Paris, love, romance.

I want a nerdy looking Japanese dude with glasses who knows electronics and gadgetry to help lead the innovation of these more computerized cars of the future.

With Japan, you thinking of Sony hd TVs, PlayStation, everything electronic. Don’t know why the CEO was not a genuine Japanese person.

Call me old fashion, but that’s my honest opinion.

My bad.

The CEO was a Brazilian-French-Lebanese business man.

So I forgot the thongs/parades and the war torn other aspects.

Still far from the typical Japanese electronic type you would think Nissan would have as CEO. :werd:

For the Rogue Hybrid I think some of the problem with sales was that for quite a long period of time they didn’t sell it throughout the US. Other hybrid makers were already selling everywhere in the US. Call it a failure of marketing.

Nissan didn't do themselves any favors advertising and selling the Hybrid. I don't know about 2019 models, but for 2017 the Hybrid's didn't become available for sale till 4 + months after the gas model had already been on sale. And for the 2018 model they released it in the West Coast first and we couldn't get it on the East coast for about 4 months.

On a side note, for the first 6 months I used Fuelly to record every fillup I did on my 2018 Rogue Hybrid: As you can see I typically got around 27 mpg and I don't drive with a led foot as this is the 3rd Hybrid I've owned.

Nissan really dropped the ball on this one. IIRC the Hybrid was never available in Canada.
