Recently I bought a factory trailer harness for my 2013 Nissan Rogue. I installed the entire harness as directed in the instructions. When I hooked up my trailer all of the lights worked except for the right turn signal. I checked the trailer on another vehicle and the turn lights work fine. I went back to the dealer and got another harness. Still the same problem. Any suggestions? Help!

Thanks
Eric

You installed the kit 999T8 GU000 and followed all instructions, including installing the converter and additional fuse?
(Trying to ensure you did indeed install the correct kit)

The instructions you followed were identical to this?
http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/asistgc_ ... /1UI26.PDF

When you say you replaced the harness, what do you mean? The kit has two harness and miscellaneous parts including a converter. If you only replaced the one of the harnesses, you may have not fixed your problem.

On the instructions I posted:
Page 2 has a breakdown of all parts, it can help if you point out what you replaced.
Page 27 has a schematic.

That is the kit and those are exactly the instructions I used. I installed both wire components as well as the converter. I also installed the 30 amp fuse they included in the kit. The right turn signal still won't work. I can't find the problem.

What happens when you press the brake pedal, do the trailer lights come on and if so, which side(s)?

When I apply the rear brakes, both the right and left side illuminate. However, the right turn signal does not blink when signalling. Additionally, when I turn on the hazard lights, the right side is not blinking either. Finally, the right and left turn signals both work on the Rogue itself when the trailer is connected to the truck.

I still can't figure this out.

One of two things:
- the right flasher input through the 2 pin pre-wire is not present (wiring issue)
- the converter "input" for right flasher is faulty (so the converter doesn't realize there's a right flasher signal)

I would use a voltmeter and with the hazard on, check if the pre-wire "right" turn is functioning. You can compare against the left flasher input to the converter to see what a working flasher signal would look like on your specific voltmeter. You can trace back at each connection point to see where you lose continuity.

You had mentioned replacing the harness previously but I was not sure if you replaced the converter as well. If you did replace the converter, I'd imagine the issue is not the converter but most likely the wiring.

I replaced all parts associated with the package wiring that comes in the box. I will buy a voltmeter and test.

Thanks

I installed my factory hitch and the wiring harness but figured the last couple of times, the trailer had a dead bulb. So, here I am, 4 years later, and U-haul wouldn't rent to me. I only rent a trailer occaisionally and realized the same issue you are having. I went through the wiring diagram, labeled everything, tested everything and realized, the gray, turn (right) input, supply line is NOT LIVE, with the turn signal on. So, the blue wire is hot, the gray is dead. Did the factory forget to hook this wire up and if so, how far to the front of the vehicle do I have to search for this disconnected wire? Maybe I have to go to the passenger side or in the fuse box somewhere???? Any help or link would be appreciated. :wtf2:

Although I have a warranty, the dealership was closed over the weekend and taking a day off work to explain the issue to a service rep is futile. Plus, I needed to get this trailer. So, this is the set-up on a 2010 Rogue. The silver and blue plug, a two wire interior harness, equates to silver - turn (right) input <dead> AND blue - hot fused supply wire <live>.

I disconnected the receiving side of the silver or gray wire from the connector and plugged the connector back in so the blue wire still provides power AND the supposedly gray wire does not touch anything. I then took a 16 gauge wire and tapped the right turn signal and connected that to the gray wire I just disconnected from the plug which goes into the converter.

Instead of removing the passengers side trim panel, I'll save you some work if you can unravel the bundle directly under the rear right turn signal lamp. The four wires that go to the lamp are: Dark Yellow - Stop, Red - Tail, Light Yellow - Turn, and Black - Ground. I simply removed a portion of the insulation on the light yellow wire and soldered a wire to this line. You'll need about 4 feet. Tape that wire against the spare tire well and across to the converter on the drivers side where you'll connect the gray wire you removed in the step above. You should test the light yellow wire first to make sure you are tapping the right turn signal. Turn the right turn signal on with the key turned to on.

Commentary: I'm sure a technician out there knows where the gray wire needs to be connected to the steering column switch or fuse box, I just don't have the time and running a wire all the way to the front of the car is a bit much. I'm sure it was run the length of the car when they built the car but probably isn't connected under the dash or some other breakpoint since we both have the same issue.
