Am about to make my nissan 2011 fully loaded and would like some help in putting in a backup camera, my island DMV laws do not allow license plate frames so those kind of cameras are out of the question if i have to disconnect it every time am going to license my vehicle. so am looking for the next best option of cameras i can use with hd night vision that requires less drilling into my vehicle and ease of installation.

If your state doesn't allow plate mounted cameras, then your next best bet will be to mount it on the trunk handle.
My Leaf did not come originally with a backup camera either. What I did is buy the trunk handle that contains the space for the camera and added it myself. The head unit was ready to receive the video so I didn't have to add an extra monitor.
in your case, I don't know if the same approach would be possible as my Rogue is the 2nd gen (2015) so I can't compare the trunk handle.
One option would be to see if you can find a license plate light with the camera integrated (cleaner and no drilling involved). such as this one:

:welcome: I'd ask how the weather is in Barbados, but I'd just be jealous.

There are a couple of options for adding a backup camera. While the DMV won't allow a license plate frame, would they allow something like this? I think the mounting bar could be behind the plate. There's others available on Amazon with a smaller camera.

Here's another option, but I'm not certain how the camera would be mounted.

This one has two cameras mounted below the mirror. One facing front, the other rearwards. Although I doubt it'd work as well with the limited rear visibility of the Rogue's rear window.

While the wireless ones are a good idea on paper, I ended up removing the transmitter/receiver and adding the video cable through the inside due to bad interferences. Depending on my body position while backing up, the screen was like snow for not receiving the video.
I would assume the Rogue being a little bit longer, that would be worse. Or maybe my transmitter was just in a bad place behind the trunk cover. After I added the video cable, that was perfect and almost like stock thanks to the original trunk handle.
In other words, there are a lot of solutions as Rogue One just pointed out. It's up to you to be creative now.

With the large number of Rogue's on the road, that means a large number hit the auto wreckers. Have you looked into what parts are needed to swap over for the backup camera using a factory camera/LCD display? I know with previous cars the wiring is often in place from the factory. This will give you the best look/finish.

Hi,

I recently bought a used Nissan Rogue Select S 2015 model.
I found out that it does not have a backup camera installed.
I am planning to get a backup camera installed.
Being a newbie in this area, I have a few questions.

1. Should I go for the aftermarket devices or should I buy a Nissan product (if there is any)?
2. Is it possible to replace the standard stereo with the display panel and backup camera found in the Rogue SV models? Where can I find its cost?
3. Which is better - the one integrated in the rear view mirror or having a separate display?
4. Is it too difficult to install it myself? How much would it cost me if I asked a technician to do it for me?

It would be great if you guys could help me.

Thanks in advance.

We have an incredible SEARCH feature on this forum. Merged with existing thread.

1. After market.
2. It can be replaced, but it's not worth it. IIRC, a new OEM unit is about a grand. You can get a used one off eBay for a few hundred dollars, but it's only the head unit so you'll still need everything else. An aftermarket kit will be a fraction of the cost.
3. The rear view mirror one IMO is too small to be of any real use.
4. You can get one that sends a wireless signal, so that would be the easiest route.
