We just bought a 1997 Nissan Quest Mini Van. Great shape and runs well. A couple times this happened. Right after it starts it immediately stumbles and stalls. Other times it starts properly. Just wondering where I should be looking for the problem. Any ideas?? Thnxs

PS.. This is our 2nd Quest. We have owned a 1993 Quest for 14 years. Great vehicle with 427,000 original KLMs on original drive train.

Cold starts or hot starts? Any codes? Clean your TB and IACV along with performing any required maintenance like filters, plugs, etc.

Here's a link where you can download the procedure for checking, and only if nescacary, adjusting the idle speed, it may be a bit low. Good luck with the van, the VQ engine is even more bulletproof than the one in your '93

Thnxs for the tips kr.... Appreciate it. It looks like most of the tune up items are probably "original". Today I will replace tune up items and see where it stands. I also read a tip about fuel pumps being slow to spin up. This AM I held the key on run for a couple seconds before moving it forward to the start position. It seemed to be almost perfect. Once I get the tune up done I will update. Thnxs again.

Oh, thanks for your thoughts on the 97 VQ.. Our 93 is fine but fixing the broken exhaust manifold studs was not a nice job. lol Next week I will replace the timing belt, waterpump, and the 3 accessory belts. They too appear to be original on the 97.
