Does anyone know of a parking sensor system that has two-four sensors and has four speakers (One for each end) so you know where the obstacle is? The Nissan President came with it as an accessory but at first when I saw the control unit for one of the corners I thought it was for the side markers. Just like when the headlight or tail light bulbs fail then a message comes up on the Diagnostic Information Center, I though it would alert the driver that the sider marker bulb failed. I was wrong when I saw this: http://solingmoto.ru/epc/nissan/unit.as ... 5672366F3D

The way it works is that when you come close to a object say on the front right corner of the car there will be a sound emitted from the front right corner speaker. There are separate speakers for this mounted inside the dashboard and under the rear parcel shelf.

Does anyone know a after market system that is similar?

Did any BMW's or Mercedes Benz of the time have a system comparable to this?

You know that 94-96 Q45 came with mirrors that automatically turned down when you put the car in reverse... :) :)

Thread Hijack; Wes, I have the funny rapid lock/unlock problem, and my mirrors don't tip down when in reverse on my 94. There's a TSB on the lock symptom that says to replace the BCM. Sound likely?

Lokim,

On my '02 Q45 you have to turn the adjustment control to the left or right to deflect the mirror while in reverse. If the control is centered, nothing happens. Maybe it's the same for yours.

You still have to turn the switch though or keep it in that direction. If only someone could wire in a relay to turn the passenger mirror down when in reverse automatically. On the 1990-1993 You had to turn the switch and push the switch down, I can't tell you what a hassle that is.

Anyone know of anything close to this system because getting this from Japan will be a pain in the... and a half.

a quick google turned up several aftermarket systems. directed and spal are the companies that popped out at me as far as manufacturers i have used before with good results.

i have rear parking sensors on my titan and now that i have them i don't know how i ever lived w/o them. that being said, i don't see any benefit in differentiating between each corner. something in the way is something in the way regardless of where it is. besides that it's fairly intuitive.

spal does have kits with displays though. or you could by multiple 2 sensor kits and either mount the speakers in each corner or probably even wire them into the existing speaker system.

Hey I hear what your saying but I want OEM parts in my car, I will starve to make sure of it. I have seen far to many 1990-1996 (G50) Q45's in junkyards with after market (Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Advance Auto )parts (Trash).

I can't make a video screen blend in with the Q interior and a single speaker to me is half a** when Nissan used four, No offence.

I did a extensive Google search and I came up with nothing close to OEM. Perhaps looking into Mercedes Benz and BMW systems would yield something. But German technology in a Japanese car, The Q won't like that.

Well not really because I simply want a stock looking Q. But thanks for the posts. :)

Anyone else have a system similar to the one shown in the link?

I will sweeten the offer I will give ONE Rear Shock Tower Bar away to a person that finds me a system close to the one shown in the link. Its just the bar the mounting hats have to be purchased separately. I am finally going to flatten the ends of the two bars tommorow if my guy is open.

Hi Paul Wall,
I think they can be and have been helpful. Really the purpose of the parking sensorsis to alert the driver of any impending impact or to alert the driver of their closeness to another object. I think it is helpful and has increased driver awareness and saved many drivers from being in accidents and an increase in insurance from the damage. Parking sensors are a good idea. I think that if there are no speakers showing then that means with Rearview Mirror LCD Monitor also works well.
