This apply only to pathfinders in California. Maybe someone should sue Nissan in a national class action suit , since they are practically accepting the design is wrong???

Since this forum dont allow to post urls just google California Nissan Power Valve Screw Class Action Settlement and see for yourself.

Thanks for posting this. My son just got a nice '03 PF with 120k mi and it came with every receipt for work done & not showing this. Should I be checking these screws, or is it something that would have happened by now? Mechanically, for me, it doesn't look too hard, but not super easy either.

If you can check them yourself by all means do. There is anothre thread in this forum that shows how to do it. It dont look hard at all. If I do it I will post pictures. If you live in California you can also take advantage of the lawsuit settlement.

Wow, I sure wish this wasn't limited to California! This power valve screw is exactly the issue that blew my engine...I wonder why it's limited only to California? I've seen posts from others too that had this issue, and I doubt they all bought theirs in California. I just had my engine rebuilt over the fall and am in the process of installing it...man it would be awesome to get reimbursed for what I had to pay to have it rebuilt! I also had to buy the lower intake plenum and when I received it, I made sure to put red threadlocker on those screws!

All it would take is a few people from this same forum to start a class action lawsuit in another state and make it national. Im sure a lot of people will join. SInce this already have been won in Cali, it might bring precedent that Nissan recognizes the problem to exist, and would make it easier for the rest.

I thought a national class action was already underway? It's funny I actually called Infiniti after purchasing my qx4 a few months ago and asked about it... The guy I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about. That said, checking the screws is imperative. It's NOT a widespread issue for VQ Pathfinders/Qx4's , but still in your best interest to check it. Just for peace of mind. If you don't want take the intake off yourself and go through the hassle, the dealer will do it for $700 and I found an independent who did it along with new spark plugs & pcv for $400.
