Hello. I purchased an alternator from my local Autoway Nissan dealer on 1/7/07 for $245 and it failed on 12/24/07. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in for a replacement, but they would need to test it before processing the claim.

I was traveling a lot and was able to take it in on 1/28/07.

The Parts Manager stated the Nissan Warranty Department will deny the claim because it's been over 12 months and there was nothing the dealership could do. When I asked about the phone call in December, he said that there was nothing documented on his end, so his hands were tied.

For those of you that work at a Nissan/Infinity dealership or have a lot of experience dealing with this sort of issue, please let me the best approach to resolve the situation.

Thank you.

12 months is 12 months to the day and hour minute, and second.Whose fault was missing an obvious written deadline to present the defective part for testing?

"I was traveling a lot and was able to take it in on 1/28/07 [8?].

3 weeks late can be a lifetime.

I Work for a dealer.Your done dude. Your warranty expired as stated. There is nothing you can do to change that fact regardless of the phone call. When nissan warranties a starting, charging system part it must be accomponied by a failed test documented by thier service department dated prior to the warranty expiration date.
