Yesterday I was installing my Perrin Short shifter in my WRX. I had the center consol ripped apart so I could get to the shift rod and I glanced down at the switch for my mirrors and I see a big Nissan logo on the switch. I had to take a second to orient myself to make sure I wasn’t sitting in the Altima. Pretty interesting, Nissan parts on a Fuji Heavy Industry car. Maybe I should take my car apart, piece-by-piece to see what other parts there are.

Still trying to adjust it. On the WRX you have to modify the left cornor of a trim plate in order to get your shift linkage to clear for third gear. You basically take a cresent wrench and bend up the one cornor. Its a pretty easy install and does wonders for your shifting. Right now I am doing the easy mods first. The stuff that costs under $100. So far I have spend $80 shortshifter, $2.50 3/16ths T valve mod, $3 mesh for intercooler and radiator protection and $40 upgraded headlight bulbs for a total of $125.50. Not bad for only having two performance mods.

i was under the impression that subaru and nissan are sister companies. duh, obviously the cars they sell are in no shape related, but they are still affiliated.

Actually, it's because Fuji Heavy Industries supplies both Nissan and Subaru with transmission parts

Don't forget rear ends, drive shafts, half shafts, and other hard parts. I forget the name of the Fuji subsidiary that makes these parts. 240Z and 510 guys are always on the lookout for Subaru R160 differentials with limited slip.

Nissan ownes 4.1 percent of Fuji Heavy Industries. As opposed to GM that owns 21 percent. There are six major keiretsu (business networks) in Japan, bot Nissan and Subaru are in one of them with Fuji Bank. FHI also has a business alliance with Suzuki. Then again Nissan is owned by Renault
