OK- I am not a mechanic newbie but this will be my first Nissan swap.I have a 92 240sx vert that broke the timing chain.Getting another engine and need to know a few things about the swap.Is it better to pull the engine and trans together?I am only changing the engine itself.Any good order to do things in to be the most speedy?Anything special about this swap or anything in particular i need to be sure to DO or be sure NOT to do? Thanks guys I normally work on classic mopar musclecars with a lot less stuff in the way. I have had this car for 5 years and love it,plan on painting it soon but this was a pretty big setback.

Dude, stop post whoring the board. Post once and wait for an answer. If that's not good enough you will be banned.

We dislike seeing multiple threads everywhere covering the same topic. In the future, pick the forum that best suits your question (in this case, it should be 240 tech as this is a technical question regarding the car), and only post that one topic.

As for your question, when I do a motor replacement, I find it quickest to disconnect the trans and only remove the motor. You'll need some good long extensions and some universal joints to make your life less miserable, but it's better than having to disconnect the driveshaft and have the trans piss everywhere.

I personally pull the motor and trans out together. I find it easier, the trans can be a real pain to get back in when it's under the car. Plus having to drain the transmission fluid will just give you a good excuse to change that out. : )

Pull both out together! Throw away auto trans. Buy 5 speed trans and clutch and other necessary parts and re-install as 5 speed. While the motor is out, clean the heck out of the engine bay. Then decide what color you are going to paint the rest of the car and paint engine bay. After owning the car for 5 years, it'll feel like a brand new car to you after the trans swap.
