Hey guys,

I am new to this forum. I want to black out the front grille of my aluminum color 07 MO. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience doing this. I'm a bit nervous. I just checked out advanced auto parts today looking for spray paint, primers, clear coating, etc. It would be awesome if you guys could enlighten me with any brand recommendations or general guidelines you may have experience with.

from what I understand: after taking the grille off the car
1) sand chrome until not shiny
2) clean off the surface
3) leave indoors for 24 hours (preferably)
4) apply coats of paint with wet sanding in between
5) apply clear coating
6) let dry and reattach

thanks for the help!

I had planned to do the same thing at one point. I was going to use Krylon Fusion - http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/

It says no sanding, priming, clear coats required.

I ended up buying a custom grille instead though - the member that makes them goes by KERSHAW.

Google "Plasti Dip Grill".

Thank me when you're done. ;-)
