My SES light came on 3 days back when I was coming back from emmission testing.I just got back from Autozone. I had them pull the codes for me and they said I had the P1572 code and the P0138 code. Now from the looks of it from other postings here on NICO and elsewhere on the web the P0138 is the Heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2. P1572 is the ASCD brake switch.

I have following questions:

P0138- a) What this problem is all about? b) Should I go ahead and get the O2 sensor replaced?c) Will this cost me too much? ( upwards $250? )d) Can this be solved without the O2 sensor replacement?

P1572-a) What this problem is all about specially when I face no problems with my brakes?b) Do i need immediate attention or I can live with it?c) Will the replacement / repair cost me too much?

Fact- I always use premium unleaded gas.

Please help

Thanks in advance

what is the mileage on the vehicle? a 4 wire heated o2 sensor usually lasts around 100k-120k. when was the last time a tune up was done? my 01 SE has comes up with this code but my motor has only 72k on it; i cleaned my maf sensor (scrubed a little with a gentle toothbrush and some cleaner) and changed my plugs, reset the code, and it has stayed off. not too sure on the other code.

I had the same code come up on my 2000 Max. at 150,000 and I replaced the one 02 sensor had the code and one month later threw another code on downstream o2 and decided to change all of them at this point. Like was previously said 02 sensors should go about 120000 but thats not to say this one isnt bad, its happened b4. The code for the brakes Ive never seen it so not sure what to tell you to check or if it is dangerous.

dang only 32k and problems already...crap

did you notice a drop in gas mileage?which BANK is the O2 sensor?how low is your brake fluid level?...keep it at MAX.

when you replace that 02 sensor it may trigger others to go bad, it's normal for maxima's---kinda.

pull the plug on all the 02 Sensors with the ignition OFF, disconnect the battery for 10 MINS, then plug them back in, and reconnect the battery.

run SEA FOAM through your brake vacuum line...any junk build up on the O2 sensors will hopefully get eaten off.

any other suggestions??

PS i ended up replacing 3 of 4 02 sensors
