I've bought a pan gasket & new strainer in anticipation of doing a drain and fill on my I35. The owners manual says to use Nissan Matic D fluid or Dextron, if Matic D is not avaliable. I called my Infiniti dealer, they want $12.22/qt, compared to the Nissan dealer, who wants $6.64/qt. And, the Infiiti parts dept guy said, just use Dextron! I've read opinions that it's OK to switch, and some say NO! I think Matic K fluid is more restrictive. I'm sure Nissan would like to sell rebottled Dextron for for $12/qt, but on the other hand, I don't want to ruin my Xmmsn over trying to save fifty bucks either. Anybody know for sure?

I use the Matic D. Although I just had the dealer do a flush, since that removes all the old fluid as opposed to a drain and fill.

Dextron + 1 bottle lubeguard red is pretty close (close enough) to Dextron... You dont want to swithc if your under warranty because they wont honor it, but otherwise id recommend just using dextron.... but if you want to use nissan, its going to be the same from the infiniti stuff!!!

As wes said, Nissan fluid is the same as Infiniti fluid...at that point, you're only paying for the Infiniti name.
